“A Very Good Pub”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Really impressed with the staff here. Food is good pub food. Lovely area to eat outside. A pub worth a visit for a relaxing pub meal and a pint. If you are at Foxton Locks it is a 10 minute walk along the Harborough arm....worth the walk. The village shop is actually next door in the pub's outbuildings.

“Nothing too much trouble for Geoff and Karen!”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

Lovely welcome, good ale/beers/wines..... Nice food, but what really stands out at this pub is the tremendous effort that geoff and karen (the landlord/landlady) go to to make sure your visit is a very pleasant one, everybody is always welcome and accommodated; families, couples or even a quiet pint on your own or at the bar with an interesting (two way) conversation with either of them or their staff or a game of darts? If you value/appreciate the old English pub that's trying over and above to survive then pay them a visit.

“Good for Sunday lunch”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

Booked a table last Sunday. Drove up from Surrey and arrived a bit early. Staff were very accommodating and let us have access to our table. Service was good and all four members of our party enjoyed our meal. Would not hesitate to go back.

“Excellent food and friendly service.”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

We stayed a week in Foxton and went to the Black Horse Pub and Restaurant on the first day. We liked it so much that we never went anywhere else! Excellent menu choices, wholesome food and we could take our little dog into the parlour with us. Really pretty outside area and views.
Everyone was so friendly and well coming.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We selected this pub after reading the good reviews and after having been put off another which seemed to have comments about a lovely location but poor quality of food. This place seemed to have far better reviews for the food so we went here instead....wish we hadn't! We had a friendly waitress but the bar staff were not so cheerful. The place lacked any 'atmoshere' and the food was pretty uninspiring - it was adequate but really bland and I certainly wouldn't bother returning.
