Stayed here for 5nights for a dive retreat.
And I must say, this is a 5-star luxurious dive resort! :)

1. Diving
The team of professional dive guides and boat crew are so attentive and thoughtful! After every dive, we get towel to dry ourselves, chilled fruits and hot drinks to hydrate ourselves!
Not just that, the dive guides (special mention : jacky who ensures that everythg is in order. Thank you jacky!!) ensure that u'll see small critters such as Pygmy seahorse, shrimps, crabs etc etc.

Day dive at lembeh is available at usd 40. But a gentle note. The resort only accept ruppiah..(we had usd but cannot use. So had to pay the lembeh dive and mandarin dive in ruppiah using credit card)
Usd are only for prepayments.

It's always a chore for me to wash my dive equipment after a trip. The team is so thoughtful that divers are spoilt to the extend that we do not have to wash our own equipment! After our last dive, the team washed and dried our equipment. And on the morning before we checked out, the equipment were outside our room for us to pack! :)

2. Rooms
We stayed in garden room. The room is so clean and big that it can fit 3pax comfortably!
There's cable channels in the room as well. My buddy and I were entertained with blockbuster every night after dinner.

3. Service
The service staff at cocotinos are just as attentive and thoughtful as the dive guides.

To conclude, this is a haven meant for divers. :)

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for your fantastic review of our resort.
We at Cocotinos Manado have worked very hard over the years to provide the best possible service to divers and non-divers. Jacky is one of out most experienced Dive Masters and he now runs the dive center.
As for divers, we try to make them feel like kings and queens in our resort and there is no need for royalty to wash up their own equipment.
Please come again. We are waiting for your return visit.

We shared fond memories of our stay from 05 - 13 april, 2013 (8 nights).
We stayed at the Water Edge Room, really lovely comfortable and spacious, TV excellent and sufficient selection of channels
Nice bathroom, good shower, separate toilet, but we miss a double zinc with space for my toiletstuff.
Restaurant: the set menu and a la carte has a nice variety. The first days of our stay we experienced that the quality delivered of the dishes, we ordered was not well prepared. But the rest of our stay - I remarked that perhaps another Chef was in charge and the dishes were tastier.
Thank you for the Birthday cake - it was a big surprise - very thougthful !
Enjoyed great hospitality of the entire and friendly Staff. Big compliments for Jackie and the Dive instructor Hengky and Crew, we had a fantastic boattrip to Bunaken and great snorkling. Super
Many thanks for for assistance and your efforts to make our stay enjoyable.
Additional the transfer services Airport-hotel-city etc. was excellent !
Friendly and experienced driver, enjoyed my day trip - as well to the City and surroundings and the scenic route.
Thanks so much again !

Room Tip: On a personal note we enjoyed the Water Edge room for its size and comfort. disadvantage a bit noi...

Dear Reviewer

We are happy that you enjoyed your 8 nights with us. We apologise we did not have a double sink in our bathroom because of space constraint and some of the food during your first days was not to your satisfaction. However we are glad that for the rest of your stay, the food was tastier. It is our policy to make the stay of every guest as memorable as possible and your birthday cake was baked with love. We enjoyed your birthday as much as you did and all our dive staff remember you fondly.
Please tell your friends about us and come again.

I have to rave about this. Imagine a thousand starfishes lying on the sea bed around you, a cuttlefish glowing in its luminance and sparkle with its eye drifting in the water.. A skinny palm size octopus with long tentacles in your face, and the most amazing mandarin fish courtship you can watch... The corals are their home and they swim around it in a pattern back and forth, when they come together, their face touches each other as though they are snuggling and they raise up slowly together, pose for a second or two and drift apart then come back together to do the same thing again a few more times every evening at 520pm, before it gets dark. They are like the sweetest lovers underwater! This morning, we took the first dive down a slope to a huge wall of coral with schools of different fishes... We saw a few turtles, one huge one sleeping in its hideout, one hanging onto the wall, one swimming away freely... We saw a super tiny seahorse too! Orange crab, leaf fish, tiny scorpion fish... And after all that, we surface and rested on the boat. The team came to us serving a fresh plate of fruits and offering us tea or coffee. They are really organized and helpful. I haven't experienced such quality service while out on a dive trip ever. All the divers out there should come here and be spoilt because you will not find another place like this one here! Super!

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for your 5-star review of our resort.

We fully empathise with you with regards to the wonders under the sea in the Bunaken Marine Park facing our resort. We have always wanted to invite divers to experience the richest reefs of Indonesia at our doorsteps.

You waxed lyrical over the flora and fauna of the sea for which we are all so blessed and will seek to preserve.
Please tell all your friends about your experience and bring them along with you on your next dive trip to our resort.

We stayed three nights at the lovely away-from-it-all Cocotinos resort. We had first been 10 days on Bali and celebrated my birthday and the New Year at the hotel. Very relaxing with peaceful guests and the hotel staff did everything to make our stay perfect. We made a half-day snorkelling tour the the surroungins islands and were at the first stop the only boat there and at the second stop with just few others - very different to the Gilis up in the north.
The resort is a little pricy but it is still worth staying at the sea front rooms. We would definitely stay at the resort again.

Room Tip: Choose sea front rooms - litte more expensive but worth it!

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for taking your time to do a great review of our resort in Lombok.
However you may have posted it by mistake to our Trip Advisor site for Cocotinos, Manado.

The general manager of our sister resort in Lombok, Mr Iwan Sitompul , would like me to thank you for your kind words on the great service you receive while you were in his resort. Indeed, the location of Cocotnos in Sekotong bay is idyllic and offers an alternative to those who seek peace and quiet, away from the rather busy and developed Gilis up north.
Iwan is looking forward to your next visit.

Cocotinos is a neat little boutique hotel 45 mins away from the city in a small village called Kima Bajo. Orijinally we planned a 15 day holiday in Manado thinking it might be interesting to visit a place that is not as touristy as places like Bali, or Boracay. In our first day I regretted my decision to stay that long, as the hotel offers no attractions for kids and pier next to the restaurant is not safe as the railings do not offer much protection. The surrounding (which is the Kima Bajo village) is not suitable for leisurely walks. Once you are in the hotel, you are pretty much stuck there as going to the city is a major hassle with the narrow and winding country roads packed with motorbikes and cars. City traffic is another story which I do not even want to get into.
But lets get to where the hotel is strong at, which is scuba diving. They have a good and friendly team of professionals who know what they do and where they go. The equipment is well maintained. The hotel is almost next door to great wall dives and reef corals and colorful sea life. So it's a big convenience to leave straight from the hotel's pier on a boat, have your morning dives, come back, have lunch and go back for the afternoon dives. The hotel is PADI affiliated and they have great dive instructors like James Mamoto who can certify you for open water dives if you dont already have one.
The rooms are great, decorated with taste and thought. We had two ocean view suites with interconnecting doors. The cushioned wide window sill with ocean view is very cozy and perfect for reading and for kids to sleep on.
Food in the restaurant is OK, not gourmet quality but certainly doesn't make you cringe when you eat. A bit on the pricey side for what you get, but since you have practically no option of an eat-out, you just have to accept the situation before hand. Manado is famous with its Klapper-taart, and Cocotinos' Klapper taart is one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. It is not in the menu, so you have to ask them to make it for you. Allow a few hours for preparation.
If I was without kids and only went there for scuba diving, I would have probably given a full score, but the safety issue with the kids and the fact that the hotel is so small and that there is nowhere you can walk around in the vicinity (which is one of my favorite activities during my travels), and also the fact that they tried to charge us the full 15 days although it was not in our written agreement (they finally agreed to charge as much as we stayed), I have scored only three out of five.

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for your review of our resort.
I am glad you enjoy your stay somewhat. You liked our rooms, our dive service and our klapper tart (one of the best you have ever eaten). You found our resort to be not too suitable for your young child.
However, please note that although our resort is small and specialized in scuba-diving, we do have activities for non divers such as day tours to Tomohon, The Tangkoko National Park and Manado city; rafting and 'trapping crabs' up a river nearby(which is very popular among our guests who have young children). We understand your child is perhaps too young and you were concerned for the child's safety. We hope, like you said, should you visit us again just for the diving, you would enjoy yourself more thoroughly.

Stayed here for one night with my husband and his sister who was over visiting us in Indonesia. Choose Cocotinos as I had heard many good things about them from our guests who had stayed with them and they were all right - this place is great!!!

Friendly and efficient welcome from Elizabeth and her team - nice drink and snack for us on arrival. We were taken to our room which was perfect for the three of us and would be even better for a couple traveling together. Clean, good size bathroom and the fan worked so well we turned off the AC!!! We have a tasty and filling dinner at the restaurant - the food was good! Martinus the GM even popped over to say hello!

My sister-in-law had not dived in while and the dive team helped my husband to organise to do a refresher in the pool with her (he is an instructor!) when we arrived. The dive operation is well run and we had great day diving in Bunaken - we were the only people at the resort who dived that day so we had a private boat. The lunch supplied on the boat was very tasty as well!

Will continue to recommend this place to people who are traveling to North Sulawesi.

I am usually a bit of a difficult traveller but I cannot speak highly enough of Cocotinos and the Odyssea dive operation. Everything was lovely. The team has a great attention to details, the dive operation is very well organised and professional and the diving is lovely. The staff is fantastic, so friendly and helpful. The accommodation is beautiful and very spacious, the food is good and very diverse, and there is even a spa offering a wide range of treatments at very reasonable prices. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Dear reviewer thank you very much for your kind review of our Cocotinos Resort. We always try our best to please and make our guests stay the best it can be. It helps that my staff were able to show you real Manado hospitality which they always give from their heart. Our Odyssea dive operation, as you found during your stay with us has the same level of friendliness as the resort while being professional and safety oriented. We also have some of the best shore diving around.
We hope to have you come and stay with us again soon.
Kind Regards. Martinus
