I went to Boccondivino for the first time in 2011, and my heart was warmed by the personalized service, quaint and charming ambiance, and delicious, local, creative food. It is a gem in a town that already shines like a diamond.
Labro is a quaint, ancient town with a population of only 30 or 40 people, and it will steal your heart; Boccondivino is no exception. I am a vegan and the restaurateurs, Mauro and Valeria—as long as they are notified in advance—were willing and extraordinarily able to deliver a delicious vegan meal, not to mention vegan cookies made on the spot with chickpea flour, sugar, oil, and raisins.
The produce they serve is local, and the service they provide is kind, courteous, and professional. Valeria, a native of Sardinia, is a magician in the kitchen, whipping up meals that are Italian in nature but have a creative flair added to them. Flower petals on black rice was an unforgettable dish, not to mention Brussels sprouts soup, which was, without a doubt, the best soup I've ever had. The Sardinian crispy flatbread is also not to be missed and comes with every meal.
Do go and enjoy a unique experience, where you will be catered to and waited on hand and foot. They treat their guests as somewhere between royalty and family—either way, you cannot go wrong. Do also ask Mauro for wine recommendations; his knowledge of wine is impeccable. Buon appetito!
