What a lovely location, couldn't ask for better views on a glorious afternoon. Food was nice. However, the staff where useless, the girl that took our order was great, but the others had one pace. It was taking ages for peoples food to come out and the people on the next table had to ask for one of their afternoon tea,s as they only bought two out. Sadly won't be going back unless they have a change of staff

I read the mixed reviews with interest and was not sure what to expect. We stayed here for 3 nights and I have to say that overall things were very good.

This hotel is an amazing building set in beautiful grounds. There is lots to do and we walked, swam, played tennis, had an archery lesson and had 2 pretty good meals in the restaurant. There was also golf, clay pigeon shooting and a host of beauty treatments for those that like to be pampered.

Most of the staff are very friendly, although a few perhaps come across as a little frosty. Food and drink are not cheap and if you’re on a budget it’s not the place to go. However, if you allow the whole experience of the place to flow and make use of the many facilities you can't fail to have a good time. They even have a few bikes that you can borrow.

We had 2 rooms and both were kept immaculate. Everything worked, there were no groups of people shouting in the corridors at night and a simple call to reception brought extra pillows, passwords for wifi or room service.

Our children made friends in the pool, which does not have some of the ridiculous restricted hours of other pools over the school holidays.

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel as we presumed it would be to a high standard unfortunately it was not.We had a manor room which was up in the eaves the room was ok it had 2 perspex chairs in it which we thought a little odd considering the character of the room. Only one pillow each on the bed which we thought was frugal. The weather was lovely so we had a walk around the gardens and then sandwiches and a drink on the terrace at lunchtime which was good.We ate in the dining room in the evening the meal was average and not cheap for average. We ordered cheese and biscuits between us which cost £15.00 for 3 small pieces of cheese and no stilton on the plate although produced so nearby! Another disappointment was the coffee and petit fours which were not special at all.The staff seemed under pressure and could not cope with the amount of customers.

Took a group of 14 to this Hotel Classic stately home English Hotel. Food Exceptional Rooms nicely appoimted, Service first rate and staff very pleasant, activities were well done. Clay pigeon, archery etc. Top marks to peter with the Bird of prey experience :)

Very family friendly, dont play golf so cant comment on that. good value for money, flawless weekend <pay per view movies would be nice though>

Nothing was too much trouble, even a drunk englishman pestering the Piano player for Cole Porter :)

Room Tip: Numerous View options in this Hotel, I would ask for the frontal view over the parkland or the Forma...

We spent a night here with our dog and the staff could not have been more helpful. Efficient checking in, luggage carried up and they looked after the dog while we had dinner rather than putting him in the car. Our room was comfortable (it was the one named after the shirt people). It was a little gloomy and I suspect there are better rooms but they do allocate certain rooms for dogs.

They are a bit regimented about when you turn up for dinner but the food was excellent. The artichoke and salsify salad was very very good.

Breakfast was slightly disappointing. We were very prompt on Sunday morning which seemed to catch them unawares. The array of fruit lacked some compote and there was no fresh yoghurt or muesli. Nor was the orange juice freshly squeezed. On the other hand, the eggs benedict was good.

We walked around the grounds but weren't organised enough to use the spa.

You get what you pay for and this was expensive but you could appreciate why.

The hotel is nice enough; the rooms are clean. It's the complete attitude of the staff that lets it down (apart from the girl on the bar from Latvia). They're basically rude particularly the reception staff. I don't think I've ever had service so poor when I've checked in. As we checked in and as we were also having Sunday lunch there with the father in law at 130pm the day after we asked if it would be possible to keep our room past 11am on the Sunday morning. Immediate response was 'no'. Asked why. Got told that there was somebody else going in there at 1130am. Really!!! Check in time is 2pm for everybody else. They must think we're really stupid. Sat in the lounge after checking out - the place was empty. Where were all these people queuing up to get in at 11.30!!

The restaurant for dinner on the Saturday - well lets be honest - it wasn't that good - they think they are something else. The food was nice enough. Sides came as we were practically finishing our mains - no apology. I really can't add anything else to say except, go somewhere else for a nice weekend away. Yes it looks lovely but believe me its barely 2*

Dream on Stapleford Park - you've got a LONG way to go before you're a quality establishment.

Loved the vast grounds at our disposal while we stayed at the manor house and the picnic lunch that they packed for us was really good. The service was good although we felt that the main dining hall was rather formal especially with a 4year in tow.
The rooms are really well preserved but its time they upgraded the beds to provide the plush luxury that is expected from a place like this.
