“Nice and Quiet”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Enjoyed the location and the feeling of this place. I don't know if it is old or new but it almost seemed like you were staying in a tiny village. The rooms were clean and roomy. There was free WiFi if the office was open but in the evening when the office is closed you have to sit outside on the steps to get it which wasn't very pleasant in the rain. The breakfasts were good in a very bright room upstairs. They will do your laundry but it is very pricey.

Room Tip: Very close to the ferries to see the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands but beaware that the boats...

We spent two nights at the lodge and found it to be an interesting place. When you view it from the road it is truly lovely (horses in the field, nice stone work). Inside is quite plain, rooms kind of large- not exactly dirty (not exactly clean). The view from our window was just great- windows could only be opened/closed with a stick you picked up the hall- thank goodness for our next door neighbour who showed us how! The breakfasts were really not very good. On the first day we saw someone ask for strawberry jam for toast (they had a large bowl of individual jam packets but all were marmalade- no jam). Nothing was said, nothing was brought and the next day we see the same bowl of marmalade- no jam. Not a big deal but truthfully we were in Ireland for 2 weeks staying in B & Bs and it was by far the worst breakfast of all. We ordered pancakes and they tasted like the grease on the grill from frying meat of some kind. Yuck! In every other B& B in Ireland we were greeted by the owner at some point- showing their pride, making sure we were well looked after. This was NOT the case here- We think we saw one of the owners when we had breakfast on the second morning (not sure- she didn't say hello but looked a bit like the picture on the internet. She arrived with her phone and keys in one hand rushing around emptying things, filling things and left. Too bad she didn't notice the jam! All kidding aside it was not a bad experience, just not a great one. We did appreciate that we could buy water in the office area though- good idea for a small town that really doesn't have anywhere to easily buy water.

Four of us stayed in an apartment for one night in June 2012. Doolin Lodge is ideally situated for Doolin Cave and after having done the through trip from St. Catherines to Fisherstreet Pot it was only a short walk to the Lodge for a much needed hot shower. Niall even let us dry our caving clothes in the boiler house. The apartment was very well equipped to a high standard and an a full Irish breakfast was included in the price. I would highly recommend a stay here.

My friend and I just recently stayed here in Doolin and found it to be excellent. For what we paid, we received a top notch apartment with laundry, kitchen, private bedroom, large bathroom, and even a balcony overlooking the town. The entire premises was very clean and the people were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and had a nice selection. The location was great to walk to all the Doolin attractions and great to drive around the area. We ended up spending 2 nights here and really enjoyed the comfort of this property. We would definitely stay here again.

I was there with a group of 9 people on an organized walking tour, We were put in a suite of rooms with a kitchenette and sitting area. The hotel is plain, but in reasonable order. The room i was in was not as clean as I would have liked as it didn't appear to have been gone over very thoroughly since the last guests' visit.

Staff was very friendly. They found me an alarm clock for a 4:00 a.m. wake-up and didn't put a stopwatch to my 30 minutes of internet usage (at 2 euros per). The place was well-situated for pubs and restaurants and even the walk down to the pier for the Aran Islands ferry.

Breakfast was simple but good. Service was quite friendly and we were able to get in and out quickly to start each day. My one big complaint was noisy guests in the courtyard, but I can't blame the management for that. I would definitely stay here again for a casual holiday.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs.

When we checked in, having only booked a twin room, we were given an entire apartment. We were pleasantly surprised. Granted, it was in May which is a bit off-season, and the room would only sit anyway, but this was still very pleasant. It was modern, had heated floors, full kitchen, washer n drier, separate living and dining rooms and balcony. The pubs in Doolin were a short walk away. Quiet and relaxing and breakfast in the morning was excellent.
