Janet & I had a wonderful time in and around Ireland.
Ashbrook Lodge is very comfortable and in a very beautiful location.
The room was spotless the breakfast very satisfying with lots of choice.
Olwyn , well what can we say---we just do not know how you manage to keep the whole house so prestine, especially having to care for the three boys--but somehow you achieve it--well done you!!!!
Our 5 days stay was very very enjoyable and will remember our stay for a very long time.
5***** accommodation and service from a very chearful and helpfull host--A VERY BIG THANKYOU.
We used Ashbrook Lodge as our central piont to travel to many parts of Ireland such as :
Limerick,Ennis,Galway,Killarny and various other beautiful places (Shannon excluded :))
Of course do not forget Doolin --A MUST to experience the Guinness and traditional music in the villages Irish pubs
******* BRILLIANT ********

This has to be the best B&B my wife and I have stayed in. The house is lovely inside and out. The rooms are spacious and absolutely spotless - en suite was sparkling. Olwyn is such a lovely host and is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was something to look forward to, and there was a wide choice . The house is well situated for exploring the local area, which includes the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, and ferries to the Arran Islands. A real beautiful setting , with plenty of eating places close by. Loved the accommodation , and the area ... look forward to returning agajn.
If you plan on visiting this area, you will not be disappointed with Ashbrook Lodge....we absolutely loved our stay there.

We had a great 2 night stay at Ashbrook Lodge. Our room was spacious, very clean and had a large comfy bed. It had a lovely sea view and was decorated very tastefully, in fact, the whole house is really nice fitted out and looked like it had been recently decorated (my wife came away with a disappointing number of decorating and furnishing ideas). The breakfast was fresh fruit, cereals and a range of cooked options, all were tasty. The black pudding was especially good.

The three things I look for in a B&B were all there, namely WiFi, duvet on the bed, and a decent shower. Olwyn was a great host throughout the whole process, from booking through to departure. She was careful to let us know that she's a short drive out of town (Doolin appears to be a very spread out place anyway so it didn't matter to us), and that payment is by cash.

We toured Ireland for a week and this was the best place we stayed in.

On our third trip to Ireland we had the great fortune to stay at Ashbrook on July 7th, our first evening. Our room was beautiful and we had a wonderful view of the water. Olwyn was the epitome of Irish charm and hospitality. We had a marvelous breakfast and even though jet lagged, we smiled broadly knowing this was a perfect B&B to rest, recover and enjoy the town of Doolin! The occasional citing of one of her adorable sons only added to the warmth of the home and in no way interfered with our privacy. We have been to the Ritz Carlton and to Ashford Castle but this was a much more enjoyable experience!

This house is very nice. It was a bit further from the water then I had imagined, and it is a nice walk down a dark country road to get to town. The room was LARGE and comfortable and CLEAN. very nicely decorated. The only downside was that the hostess has 3 little boys. They would intterupt breakfast in their pajamas and would scream up to her when she was showing us to our room. It wouldn't have been that bad, but it really made her seem stressed out which gave us a tense feeling. It would be great if your were a family traveling, but we were on our honeymoon and prefered a kid-free environment.

Having never received a negative comment about our home or our family in 8 years of having guests it is with regret and huge disappointment I feel I have to respond to these comments. I take great pride in my family, our rooms and our home so it is very important to me to hear that you were happy with your room and our surrounding area.

The essence of an Irish B&B is that it is a Family Home. We make it quite clear on our website and in the B&B Ireland brochure and website that this is a family home; it never has been or will be promoted as anything else. First and foremost, this is our children’s home. While we do expect them to behave well, and have house rules to guide them, they are still young and it is impossible to predict their behaviour at all times, and unfair to expect them to behave like adults.

Of course I remember the importance of your Honeymoon, and how precious time together in those early days after marriage is. I would suggest however that if total quiet in a ‘Kid-Free environment’ was a prerequisite for you, then perhaps your choice of staying in a Family Home run by a young couple could have been better researched.

Finally I would like to congratulate you on your recent marriage; I wish you every happiness in your future together and hope you enjoyed Ireland enough to one day return.
