My husband and I traveled in western Ireland for more than a week in May of this year. This was a second visit to Doolin for us. We were eager to return to Killilagh House and the warm reception we received two years ago. Brid and her husband have spruced up their b&b with fresh paint, new flooring, new and comfortable seating in the cozy, common lounge/living room, etc. Our bedroom room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The ensuite bathroom was bright and roomy with ample towels and plenty of hot water. Brid and her husband helped us with suggestions for places off the beaten path to visit and assisted us in arranging a trip to the smallest of the Aran Islands. The substantial breakfast at Killilagh House is a real treat with many choices available. Brid's yogurt brulee, Irish brown bread and carrot cake are the best! She has graciously shared the recipes with us (and we've enjoyed her specialties back in the States in our own kitchen).

Our three-night stay was perfect. The location in Doolin is ideal; you can walk to pubs, restaurants, shops, and the harbor. (The Burren Way actually passes through the village, as well.) Parking is an added benefit at Killilagh House. We highly recommend Brid Shannon's bed and breakfast!

We stayed at Killilagh house for two nights in March. As well as lucky with the weather, we were lucky with our choice of accommodation. You'll be surprised how many B&Bs and hostels there are in Doolin, for such a tiny little village. Looking back, I think we picked Killilagh because it offered one of the most competitive nightly rates with breakfast. Yes, there are modern and snazzy looking new hotels and hostels around Doolin, but I can't imagine the extra cost adds that much more satisfaction to your trip to Ireland, you're visiting for an authentic Irish experience after all?

We had full Irish breakfasts with planty of coffee, tea, juice, bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes, toast and best of all, homemade brown bread and carrot cake! Considering the cost of a cooked breakfast out and about can range from 8 - 10 Euros and up each, this isn't a bad breakfast for such a competitively priced B&B.

The double room was very large and basic furntiure was sound - bed side tables, dresser, spacious wardrobes and a chair. The shower en-suite was spacious and there was PLENTY of hot water with good water pressure.

Many of us are feeling the financial pinch at the moment, the small businesses of places like Doolin included, I would imagine. Please support hoteliers like Brid and others in her village and choose these great value little B&Bs, like Killiagh House, for your stay in Ireland.

We stayed at Killilagh House in June 2008, we were on a driving holiday in Ireland with another couple and we all agreed it was a wonderful stay. Brid could not have been more helpful. The Lounge area was so cosy, that we enjoyed evening drinks there, before we hit the pubs for dinner.

We left some items behind when we moved on, & Brid kindly sent them to us, and would not allow us to re-imburse her, that is wonderful hospitality!

Killilagh House is situated within walking distance to pubs with food & music, the rooms were clean & spacious, the breakfast was fabulous with homemade bread & a large choice.
We hope to return and stay longer next time!

I cannot believe that someone has valued so severely this B&B and its owners: my wife and I have found a very clean, comfortable, roomy and warm accomodation; mrs Brid Shannon is a perfect host (and a wonderful cook) who made everyone feel at one's ease.
We came back in Italy with only one regret: we couldn't remain there more than one night!

Owners claim there is hot water in showers, but we were not the only guests in the dining room complaining of cold showers. The owners are able to control hot water from a switch in the hall so that if you complain, they can take you back to the room, flip the switch, and prove you wrong. I believe that if you tell them you were referred by someone, you can avoid this because they are not concerned about word getting back to anyone. We simply walked in off the street. Caveat emptor.

My husband and I just got back from a 10 day trip to Ireland with our two teenage boys. We stayed 2 nights in Doolin at this B&B and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Brid Shannon and her staff are full of warmth and hospitality. The breakfast is tasty and varied, my youngest loved the eggs and salmon, my husband and older son the traditional Irish Breakfast. The B&B is located right next to two pubs which both had music and food. It was wonderful to walk to the pubs at night; no traffic on the road, just people on holiday walking to the pub and about. During the day we visited the Aran Island Ishiner and that was absolutely fabulous. We hiked up to the castle ruins and then continued to the top of the hill amid the stone walls, cattle and sheep. Absolutely still and quiet except for the moo-ing and baa-ing. Wonderful! The kids rented bikes and rode around the island and the village. There are maybe 10 cars total so no fear of traffic accidents!

My husband and my parents all stayed at the Killilagh House in Doolin, Ireland in March 2006. Brid (the owner) allowed us all to check in early due to a very early flight into Shannon Airport (with no extra charge!). She even offered to make us breakfast before we went to our rooms to catch up on some sleep. This B&B was very quiet, clean, and tidy and within walking distance to 2 of the famous pubs in Doolin. The water pressure in the bathrooms was very good and there was plenty of hot water for showers. Brid's breakfast was incredibly good and she even made some special carrot cake for us that morning that hit the spot. Doolin is located about an hour north of Shannon Airport and is within minutes of the Cliffs of Moher. Doolin is also known as having some of the best traditional Irish music in Ireland. Brid is very flexible and had no problem with our early check-in (other B&Bs in the area tried to charge us an extra full day for early check in). Overall, I would say that the Killilagh House was a shining example of Irish hospitality and warmth! The next time we're in Doolin we will stay with Brid again.
