We specifically chose b and bs rather than hotels for our first trip to ireland b/c we wanted to have a chance to chat and experience irish hospitality first hand. Danny and Mairead provided exactly the experience we were hoping for. Danny is a retired fisherman who is colorful to say the least -- he greeted us like members of the family - a big bear hug for me and hearty handshake for my husband. He showed us to our room - a cozy, sparkling clean en suite in the front of the house with a view of the cliffs of moher and the sea- fantastic! We told him our plans and he was aghast (am i trying to kill my husband he asked!) at what we were going to try to fit in. So glad we listened to Danny's advice - we opted to save the burren for our next trip and take the time to go on the boat trip to the cliffs. It was breathtaking!! The next morning we woke up to a full irish breakfast and a chance to talk to Danny and Mairead and their youngest daughter - all hysterical in their own way! Danny built a beautiful patio out stones he hand picked from the beach - when we asked about it, he gave us a stone to take home. These folks are salt of the earth - good natured, fun loving, welcoming, and happy to extend their hospitality. Our only regret is that our stay was so short. We will definitely be back and this time with euros ready to go as the nearest ATM is 8 miles outside of doolin! As Danny says the joys of country life and indeed it was a joy!
Thanks for everything Danny and Mairead
