If you are considering staying in Doolin -- do so -- and as you search through the abundant B&B offrings in the area I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better stay than Doll's Cottage. It will absolutely meet all of your B&B expectations -- the rooms are clean, quaint, and quiet; the breakfast is hearty and delicious; and the location is fantastic. But the real reason you should book a room right now is the proprietor himself. Sean O'Connor is an absolute force of nature! Funny, kind, compassionate, genuine, and smart.

My wife and I showed up quite early, and as we expected our room was not ready yet. We asked if we could park our car and explore the area on foot. Sean said we had to go to the cliffs and walk the trail back into town. However, the local bus had just left, so he threw us in his car and drove us down to the Cliffs of Moher Visitors Center himself, regaling us on the way with stories about the area and its history, his family, his philosophies on life, and all the best little spots on the trail to stop, relax, and feel gratitude for being alive.

That night he let us know where a very talented piper would be playing -- someone who doesn't often come to town. It was truly fantastic music! The next morning he mapped out a driving route for us and let us know where points of interest were that were literally not on the map. He told us stories about his parents and his children, about his wedding, about musicians who roll through Doolin -- and when we left town we felt like we were leaving a dear friend.

Sean doesn't just provide his guests with a service -- he gives them an experience that is just as memorable as the scenery, the pubs, the pints, the music -- all the things that pull at you to visit Ireland -- and really, the best part about Ireland, about Doolin, about Doll's Cottage is the people themselves. Why go anywhere if you don't plan on making true connections with others?

My wife and I feel fortunate that we chose Doll's Cottage and had the opportunity to stay in a great place and meet great people. When we return to Doolin -- and we will -- we will absolutely stay at Doll's Cottage. Thanks, Sean!

All the things you hope and wish for before your trip to Ireland come true at Doll's Cottage in Doolin. Charming accommodations, check. Excellent breakfast, check. Close to world class sights, check. Close to a pub with live music in the evenings, check. And one of the most charming and engaging Irishmen on the planet, check, check, check. Sean treats you like a long lost relative and you soon wish it was true. Doolin and Doll's Cottage are not to be missed.

Staying at Doll's Cottage was a large part of our overall wonderful experience of Doolin! We originally went to Doolin with the intent of seeing the Cliffs of Moher and didn't have much else planned for our time there. Thank goodness we stayed at Doll's Cottage because Sean is a wealth of knowledge on everything to see and do in the area and will take the time to give you recommendations of where to go and how to get there. We visited an ancient burial tomb, perfumery, and stone fort that we didn't know existed beforehand. Sean and Niamh are the most wonderful hosts and will do anything within their power to make sure you have a fantastic time in Doolin. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean and breakfast is delicious. It is conveniently located near Gus O'Connors Pub so it's a very short walk back to the B&B after a night of great music and beers, but not so close that you hear the pub from the B&B. Sean might be the funniest Irishman you'll meet in Ireland and Niamh is the warmest and most welcoming. I can't say enough good things about our time there.

Trip Tip - don't leave the pub when everyone else does at 10:30pm because after the first wave of people leave is when the real magic starts to happen!

It was a warm welcome from Sean when I arrived.
I had stayed there a couple of years ago while driving the Wild Atlantic Way.
Great stories from Sean and even better breakfasts.
Only a minute walk to Gus O' Connors famous pub.
They treat you like old friends.

Fantastic Bed and Breakfast in Doolin Co Clare. Sean and Niamh are so helpful. The breakfast was first class. The room was spacious and airy and the house spotless. We will definitely be back. Love Doolin!
