We stayed at Doolin House in Doolin for 2nights before we went to Dublin were we stayed 2 nights but could not wait to get back to Doolin House for our final 3 nights.
This fab B&B is excellent, large rooms newly refurbished with walkin wardrobe and large bathroom serviced everyday, beautiful views from the windows and very central location
Micheal and Nan were excellent hosts and the breakfast is amazing she is an excellent cook and all cooked to order you can be certain we will be back next year and would recommend this B&B to anyone .

19 of us booked in for two nights fri & Saturday, it was €50 pp per night which would have been ok if we had actually got a bed each.there was six rooms between 19 people & five of us ladies were put in one room with two double beds that were pushed together so the five of us had to sleep in a row all squashed together.for the five of us it cost €500 for the two nights in those terrible conditions with not even a bed each to sleep on.the morning we were leaving there was no hot water to have a shower,no towel change & we had to wash ourselves standing in the bath of cold water.between all of us they made €1900 which was not good value for us because the living conditions were appalling, the day we were leaving we were hurried out of our rooms before we could even get a bit of makeup on.i would never stay in this accomadation again and wouldn't recommend this accomadation to anyone else.

Hello Polly

Many thanks for your review, we always like to receive reviews from our guests as it helps us improve our quality of service, which is something we are really proud off at Doolin House.
There are a couple of points on your review that are not exactly correct Polly, first of all you originally booked a two night stay for 17 people, you texted Michael one hour prior arrival to say the numbers had increased and he called you to explain the number of beds would not accommodate that many people. You were charged €40.00 per person per night, making the total cost €1360.00, not €1900.00 as you state on your review, further more, Anne kindly returned €40.00 to you from the €1360.00 as you needed money for the bus driver. Regarding the hot water issue, each room has an individual electric shower, there is no way you could not get hot water out of an electric shower. Towells are changed on a daily basis Polly, but Anne could not get inot the rooms as you were all asleep, if you needed extra towells that morning all you had to do was ask.
Doolin House had a total refurbishment done last June so everything in it is brand new, you can take a look at our website www.doolinhouse.net to see the very high standard of our rooms and furnishings.
On a personal note, I must say your group was very disruptive to the guesthouse, ringing the door bell all through the night. Our Check out time is 11am, however when the girls woke up at 12 noon, Anne kindly cooked you all breakfast. The rooms were not vacated until 1.30pm some at 2pm and were left in a terrible state. The white bed linen had dreadful stains which will not come out and they have had to be replaced since. I had guests booked the following night after you left but I had to re allocate them to a different guest house as the rooms were not ready to be re used again, this cost us money and it is also not good for our business reputation.

If you wish to dicuss this matter any further, or any of your party has any queries on the bill, we will be happy for you to give us a call at any time.

Michael & Anne

Great location, comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. Great breakfast which offered fruit, cereal, fry-up and home cooked bread. The hosts were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Overall it was a great experience in a beautiful location.

Couldn't get in the hotel so we went next door to Doolin House. It turned out a blessing with Michael's welcome, his clean renovated rooms and breakfast served with a song. What more do you need.

We stayed here 2 nights. The rooms provided the bare minimum for survival. We booked a double bed ensuite but eneded up sleeping separate on bunk beds in the same room due to the fact that the mattress of the double bed was apparently excavated from a 17th Century castle and therefore impossible to sleep in it ! You could visibly see the 6 inch whole in the middle of the mattress and feel every single spring with precision. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot but the shower had no pressure at all, literally a trickle, so you could not use much soap and forget about washing your hair, it would have taken 2 hours at least to rinse all off. Hairdryer broken and the wall radiator barely got warm. So, if you are trying to decide whether you should pay an extra 20 -40 euros for a B&B, considering that also a full Irish breakfast is included in B&B's and it will cost you 10-12 euros/person in Doolin, then in our opinion B&B is the way to go at least in Doolin.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2009

We got in late, and this place had a room for 3. The owner (man) seemed cheerful. The linens and room itself were clean, just old. The bath needs updating, but there was hot water and everything worked. The windows were open, but with no screens, bugs easily came in (and did). Had to get a few spiders out of the tub, but it wasn't overrun or anything. No tv, but we weren't there to watch tv. Our towels were old beach towels (mine was Manchester United).
Despite the lack of luxury, this was actually the BEST sleep we had the whole trip. Nice crisp air, the beds were very comfortable, crisp clean sheets. Very quiet. The coffee and english breakfast were simple but very good and ready for us when we got downstairs.
If you are stopping by Doolin for one night and don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room, this is a really great value (only 25 euros pp for us when we had been spending about 40 - 45 euros elsewhere). This is a great location to get to McGann's pub, and gives you a great sleep. This was not a b&b to rave about the accomodations, but one to rave about the value! I'd recommend for those looking for a convenient place to rest their head and save money.
