Arrived in Doolin without reservations and went to the Half-Door. It had been recommended in a travel book we were using. We had to call from a phone in the front vestibule and waited a few minutes for Ann to come and show us a few rooms. We wanted to stay two nights so we chose the 2nd floor room with a queen and twin bed. The B&B decor is more Adirondack Mountains (New York State) than an Irish B&B. More wood paneling and sloped roof. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Our room was pleasant and had good ventilation-we were there on a warm day. The shower has water at only one temperature-it's fine, but you cannot adjust to suite your needs. Ann was pleasant, but business-like. Her husband was a little friendlier. The breakfasts were excellent, and the room very comfortable. The homeowners do not live in the house, but are just across the field. We enjoyed our stay, but if you are looking for a quaint Irish B&B with resident owners you might want to look elsewhere. We would however recommend Half Door B&B. Took us just under an hour to get to Shannon airport with a stop for diesel.
