“Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 8, 2011

Had a weekend stay, overall thought it was excellent. Friendly staff, very good food and some very quaffable real ale. On the door step on the Trough of Bowland, so did a few gentle strolls in some lovely countryside. Will definitely be going back.

Stayed here over the weekend on a last minute break booked via internet. Had a lovely room, (grizedale), very spacious and warm. One king sized bed and 2 singles, and a huge en suite bathroom. Ate a very good 3 course meal in the restaurant, reccomend the confit of duck, washed down with a couple of excellant real ales. Retired to our comfy bed after a nightcap in the bar and had a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast was good, full English kept me going on our walk in the Trough Of Bowland. Will def stay here again.
Only couple small moans, very small tv in bedroom, and bathroom window had no handle on, so was impossible to lock.

Very friendly and helpful service (including posting back to us an item we stupidly left in the room), rooms clean and comfortable, and the old part of the hotel is tastefully done and atmospheric. Compared to chain-type hotels near the M6 this is a great alternative if you need to break a journey north as we did. Breakfast was delicious - the only thing we were a bit doubtful about was the coffee, which arrived already mixed with milk in the pot and tasted a bit artificial. But generally exceptionally good value and a pleasant stay, and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had interconnecting rooms with a bathroom in between, perfect for a family of four

This place is drastically in need of new management who understand the importance of customer sevice and staff relations. Try The Barn across the road...far superior!

Dear Sara, thank you for taking the time to review The Priory on Tripadvisor. I am sorry that you are dissatisfied with the management Team at The Priory and that you have found the need to go elsewhere. As we take the customers comments and recommendations very seriously I have tried to determine what happened or if there was an incident at or around the time that you visited The Priory, unfortunately nobody has any recollection of any incident around that time, this is not to say that we didn’t make a mistake, only that we don’t know why you are so dissatisfied.
The Priory has been in the same ownership for over 40 years, and over that time has seen many changes, it has grown from a Tea room, News Agents, Post Office, Gift shop into todays
Café Bar. Restaurant, Hotel and Outdoor Country clothing and Cycle boutique, we are constantly seeking out new ways to improve the business, and whilst making any changes it is not our intention to make you or anybody unhappy with the product or service that they receive. Once again thank you for your review. Gary

We had to come down to do family stuff in Blackpool and staying at the priory made it a pleasant experience- it was low key and very pretty outside set near the forest of boland. The food was nice-it did need a bit of updating but overall really nice. Its a hotel used for cyclists and walkers and is functional and pleasant.

Room Tip: A hotel useful for all travellers
