We were able to get a table for once, you have to book early if you want to get in. Now i know why ......... the food was amazing and the portion sizes fit for a giant. Everybody enjoyed their meals and had to leave something as the portion sizes certainly filled us.

Visited on numerous occasions. Excellent food, a wide selection to choose from & huge portions of food! Highly recommend although have to agree with others, does lack atmosphere.

Visited the rams head on Thursday . What can I say food is to die for. Excellent service, huge portions and excellent value for money. I had the king prawns in batter served with chips, and crusty bread and my partner had the chicken goujons served with chips, bread and mushy peas.would highly recommend a visit.

I've been here several time and the food is just amazing. Incredibly massive portions, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. If anything it has spoilt us as we now always compare other pub food to the Rams Head and it rarely matches them.
The carvery is also excellent quality.

There are just 2 small downsides:
one is how difficult it is to get in and its not always because they're full. We've rung a week before, been told they're full, happened to call in at the pub on the night for a drink and spotted an empty dining room next door....does the chef only work part time?!
Secondly is that if you book for 7pm they expect you to be there 15mins beforehand, picked your food from the menu and then be ready to sit down to eat it at 7pm? If you arrive at 2mins before 7, its obvious from the staff's attitude that they aren't happy which isn't conducive to a good night?

These things aside, now they own 3 other local pubs too, we can choose to visit these as well and enjoy the same fab food but in a different environment.

If they could get the availability and staff friendliness right, I wouldn't hesitate to give this place 5/5 as the food is just exemplary. We'll keep returning despite their foibles!

I have eaten twice here & have thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Portions are huge and the food is brilliant. We recently booked for 12 people and the service was excellent. The pub is slightly dated & don't go expecting a posh venue, but prices are superb for the quality & quantity. Definitely worth a try!
