“Nature all around in a truly beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

We passed four days at this beautiful lodge surrounded by jungle, water, birds, fish and animals. The atmosphere at the lodge was very friendly, calm and thus paid respect to the natural surroundings.

The lodges were spacious and very nicely decorated. Our lodge felt secluded. The food was also very good and served at a wonderful terrace. The hosts were terrific and very friendly.

In April, 1961, I was returning to the United States after an almost one year visit to Uruguay as a " grass roots ambassador" in the International Farm Youth Exchange program, of the National 4-H Foundation. On the return trip to U.S. I briefly visited Rio De Janeiro, Santos and Sao Paulo. That was more than 50 years ago in 2012. My dream for the past 50 years was to return to Brazil with my wonderful husband. That dream came true when our neighbor, who is from Brazil, invited us to spend some time with he and his family in this beautiful country.
We had a fantastic three weeks, topped off by a trip to the Amazon Rain Forest, on the Rio Negro, staying at the fantastic Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge.
The Lodge is located in a wonderful, isolated location, undisturbed by other buildings, lodges etc.
The accomodations are separate cottages, air conditioned, air conditioned, thatched roofs...very charming and comfortable with wonderful hot showers, comfortable beds, back deck with hammock.
The staff is absolutely charming, the main dining lodge a treat because it is all open. The food is varied and delicious.
The guides are well informed, with thorough knowledge .

This lodge exceeded all my expectations and showcased the totally incredible natural aspect of Brazil. It's not cheap, but I really felt it was money well spent. The rooms are luxurious, and the general hotel areas are well thought out and maintained. The food was ok, but I guess it is difficult in such a remote location. Other then the setting, the most outstanding aspect was the guides. Fluent in multiple languages and very knowledgable. The tours were well planned and just the right length and really good. I would recommend and visit again!

We are two 30-something adults with a 10-mo old baby and we had an amazing experience at Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge. The location is beautiful, right on the banks of the Rio Negro and the facilities are extremely well-appointed and well-maintained, which is no small feat in the heart of the rainforest.

But what sets this place apart is the gracious service, from the welcome at check-in to the friendliness of our guides to the extra attention we received for our son. The owner himself came to install his own child's former crib in our room and they mounted a high chair on our dining table so Gus could be with us at meals.

I can go on about the tours and the food but I'll just sum it up by saying: don't miss this place. Well worth the price and the journey.

Booked through Imagine Latin America, we could not be happier with the Lodge. I went here with my family and in this secluded area, one feels inside the jungle with wildlife literally a couple feet away. The rooms were clean, air conditioned and modern, the food was good and demonstrated local cuisine and the guides and trips were fantastic. As a nature lover who sometimes scoffs at guides who seem too commercial these guides seemed to know local folk lore and were locals (always nice to see hotels hiring local talent). They even have pretty good internet in the main area which is a miracle in the jungle. Pink dolphins, giant spiders, eating grub, local folklore and jungle knowledge and demonstrations, archery and sunrise small boat trips through the rivers all part of the magic. Fantastic.

This place has it all! Stunning location, great service, lovely food, comfortable room. Everything was well planned and executed. The guides were excellent.

The 3 hour drive from Manaus can be a little 'uncomfortable', but well worth it.

We picked this place instead of doing an Amazon cruise. It turned out to be great choice. We were on the river in the mornings and afternoons sightseeing, fishing pirhanas, feeding pink dolphins and visiting local communities. A pleasant surprise was the lack of Mosquitos due to the high ph of the water.
The food was good with local ingredients and the cabin was very comfortable. A very successful stay for us.
They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Manaus.
Highly recommended.
