We stayed at the very nice pousada and really enjoyed the entire time at novo airaos. The german owner had amazing recommendations for good food in town and was super friendly throughout our stay. Wifi functioned well and the breaky was really good.
We took the two day jungle tour with an amazingly knowladgeable pilot who guided us through the jungle, prepared fish in bananaleaves with rise and told us super interesting stories about the plants of the jungle, and little villages adjacent to rio negro. Had an amazing time and would definitely come here again. Thanks to the entire staff and the remote place that offers a safe a calm stay in the amazonas area!

Such a beautiful place on the banks of the river. Very friendly service (Portugues, Englisg, German); clean rooms, nice little pool, very nice breakfast in the morning; nice chats in the bar and the best of all: a beautiful garden with lots of birds, flowers, fruit and a fanastic view of the river. It's also a good place to stay if you want to visit the river dolphins which are just a five minutes walk away.
Thank you, Klaus, for such a wonderful time!

Beautiful pousada, very friendly staff, great breakfast. The rooms are simple but provide all you need and are clean. The location is perfect, with amazing excursions on the Rio Negro. If you have the time, book the overnight excursion - we did it for one night but two nights would be even better. Experience of a life time with super friendly guide

Stayed here two times in the course of two weeks. I do not have enough information on other hotels in the area to compare to, but I can say you can't ask for much more. The hotel is literally on the Rio Negra. Excellent views and scenery surround the hotel. Owner speaks fluent English - which if you have spent time in the Amazon is very hard to come by. When I say "fluent" I mean exactly that - FLUENT. The rooms we stayed in all had air conditioning and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The rooms were perfect for what we needed them for - sleep. They provide breakfast, have a pool and bar on-site. Most importantly the establishment is gay friendly. Will definitely be back to this hotel very very soon. Before you visit the city, research its location. It is in the Amazon not a metropolis. The accommodations are superior to that of some of the hotels I stayed at in Manaus. If you expect afternoon tea, a red carpet and Wi-Fi you may want to stay in a major city.

We stayed for one day in this phantastically located pousada on the banks of the majestic Rio Negro. The views from the terrace are spectacular, especially at sunset. The breakfast in the same place, amidst friendly iguanas, is satisfying and locally flavored. The competent and helpful German owner (from Munich) keeps the place in good shape, the garden setting, the charming outdoor pool and the spacious rooms. Two minor drawbacks: the dark wooden panels in our room gave off some odor, and the lack of a decent internet connection made the use of the (old and poorly maintained) public computer in the reception area quite painful. They can organize a full spectrum of interesting nature activities and pick you up by boat just downstairs. For its reasonable price, Bela Vista in the best value in town.

Bela Vista is a safe bet. Location is perfect, as you just need to go down the stairs to be at the banks of Rio Negro, and, at the same time, you can go easily walking to nearby restaurants and other facilities.
My room was clean, comfy and aircon worked wonderfully (don't underestimate the heat in Amazonas). Showers are cold, no complaints about that.
Breakfast is pretty good and you can find all information needed to visit the national parks around at the reception desk.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms out of breakfast area.

I stay here every time my work takes me to Novo Airao, and think some reviews here are rather harsh: giving 3* is understandable but I'll err on the side of generosity. To look at both sides of the matter, things that could be improved are the slightly dark, rather worn out, basic rooms, and ill-fitting sheets. I've found a minority of the staff to be a little vague or inattentive. BUT the rooms and bathrooms are clean, and the owner, receptionists, and most staff have been very friendly. In a very small town, many hours from Manaus, expecting consistent 5* service for a 2* to 3* price strikes me as a little unfair.
At the top of the list of things that bring me back to Pousada Bela Vista is the breakfast: a very satisfying spread of the typical foods (tapioca pancakes, fried bananas, scrambled eggs, cakes, local fruit and juices, bread, ham and cheese). And this is set out on a large, airy balcony overlooking the Rio Negro - a view I could gaze at all day. Everytime I've eaten there, the local igaunas turn up, enjoying a few mouthfuls of bread and helpfully posing for photos.
As far as I know, the other pousadas in town are either up the main street (i.e, no river view) or along the river but near the (very noisy) generator.
There is a reasonable sized, inviting pool, cleaned daily. Nowhere in Novo Airao has decent internet (I think the whole town has to wait for the correct cloud cover to be able to download anything) but you can attempt to connect your laptop in the little reception (good luck!). They have a wide range of activities and boat trips to hook you up with, departing from the hotel dock - even just a half day meandering through the flooded forest of the Anavilhanas archipelago is pretty impressive.
So: if it were any more expensive I'd stop short of giving it 4* but for the price, this is a pretty good option, and I'm genuinely looking forward to my next breakfast on the balcony.

Room Tip: You can either stay in one of the rooms facing the pool, which are lighter and larger, or a room wit...
