“EXPENSIVE AND FOOD QUALITY DISAPPOINTING”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2012

Four of us dined last night, and I left feeling very disappointed by the experience.

The steamed Dim Sims (2), were dry and disappointing, likewise the prawn and bacon roll was over cooked ($8-00).

The seafood basket at $28-00 was a rip off it did not contain the ammount of seafood that one would expect for the price.

The pork in batter was tough and grissly ($17-80).

The Banna Fritters (7-80), contained onlr 1 banna that had been cut into 3 pieces and was black and rotten in the centre.

The total of the bill came to $197-10, mind you there was no alcohol.

Definately won't be going back.

For the Price, expected a lot better

“Since its opening food has consistently been good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2011

Since our initial review many months ago the food has remained consistently good on all occasions. I have yet to have a bad meal and have dined here at least 6 times. Try the pepper fillet steak in a hot pot. What can I say-delicious. Staff have become to know us as regulars and offer a high level of service. The ambiance is that of a good romantic restaurant. This restaurant is now licensed but you can bring your own wine. The yum cha special at lunch time where all yum cha plates are fixed at $5 is great value. In my opinion the restaurant is one of the best dining options in the area.

“addicted to yumcha”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2011

the yum cha here is fantastic. i have been now 4 or 5 weeks in a row! the price is very reasonable for quality of food. the restaurant looks great and has a very warm and cosy atmosphere. the staff are genuinly friendly and warm and we are always greeted with smiles. i was very impressed by the owner and wait staff recognizing me after a few visits which makes me feel more at home. the wine list is acceptable with a few very nice bottles though not an overly wide selection.
the dinner scene at china t was also very good. again the staff are great and the ambience is still warm. food fatastic! you do however have to reach further into your pocket. compared to other chinese restaurants. this may be a little dearer though you really do get what you pay for. a very small price to pay for great service and great food.

“Fantastic restaurant!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2011

We are one of the regulars at china t cairnlea. We have dined in many times during dinner and lunch! As always upon entering, we are greeted with nothing but smiles. This is consistent throughout our dinner experience as we were treated with the utmost customer service. Prices are reasonable to those who are willing appreciate the atmosphere and ambience that this restaurant has to offer, not only their food. Well, that's really the reason why we keep coming back. Good food, great people! P.s Just a note, out of all of our visits, not once did we receive a bill where rice or tea had amounted anywhere close to $54, even with 5 people or so :) cheers!

“Happy at first..but surprised by a few things!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2011

We were happy enough at first. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the service was very good. The menu was very good and we chose a variety of dishes..noting that the prices seemed reasonable even if at the top end of what was expected.
The wine list was ordinary at best....not a lot to choose from and what was on the list was nothing to write home about.
During the meal we were offered the usual refills of chinese tea as well as rice...only to find on receiving our bill that both were being charged for! I can forgive the rice..just....but the tea? There were only 3 of us and yet the bill for the tea was $27!!!! 3 refills. The same applied for the rice.. 3 refills = $27!!! so.. for rice and tea..$54. Add in the price of meals and desserts plus 1 bottle of wine.. an unexpectedly expensive evening..
I can't remember the last restaurant I ate at where I was charged for refills for tea, or rice.
Needless to say.. we won't be going back to this one.
