“Excellent cottage, quiet location, great holiday”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed here for a week in July, the weather was perfect, this is a great spot to relax and chill out, it is very peaceful but only 10 minutes drive to Pons and easy access to many beautiful towns including Cognac, Pons, Saintes, Jonzac etc. It is about 30 mins to the coastal resorts of St Georges de Didonne and 45 mins to Royan.

The cottage is a very high standard and has all modern requirements while still retaining all the character of a French country cottage. It has a very spacious lounge & dining room. The 2 bedroom are a good size too and very quaint with the exposed wooden beams. The kitchen has everything you need and is a fully equipped. The rear door leads out to the pool & patio area which has sunbeds and a BBQ, the pool is just the right size and was lovely and warm. Overall this is an excellent cottage, well kept by the owners and if it is peace and quiet you want (but close to road networks), then it is a must. We will return one day as we had a lovely week here. Steve & Anthea. Newcastle, England.

“Lovely holiday home in peaceful location”
Reviewed September 14, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Good size accommodation. Kitchen had every pot/pan/utensil you required. The decor/finish was lovely. Beds very comfortable. We all loved the pool! The location was so peaceful - I loved looking out over the field in the early morning as the sun came up. We shopped mainly at Pons- only 5 to 10 mins drive. We ate in mostly - including a BBQ. One meal out was at La Vielle Poste in nearby Champagnolles - this had excellent food and ambience. Day trips out included Bordeaux, Saintes and canoeing at Jarnac. I would highly recommend this holiday home.

“Beautiful Cottage in beautiful location.”

I have stayed at this lovely cottage twice , it is very well equipped with all the of the things you could need and has beautiful stone features, I especially like the large dining table inside with a lovely view over the fields (which in high season are filled with sunflowers) and the option to eat inside and out. The private pool is a great size and plenty of room for sun loungers.
The gite is perfect if you want a lazy break of doing nothing but relaxing by the pool and on the other hand has lots of places nearby to visit including Pons, Cognac, Royan, La Rochelle and Saintes. We also took a drive to Saint Emilion which was lovely.
I would recommend the nearest restaurant 'La Vieille poste' in Champagnolles - Visited twice during our stay - first time was lunch - Menu de jour was gorgeous and restaurant was really well presented with owner artists work. Service excellent. Returned on a Friday night for dinner menu which was really lovely - foie gras to start, scallops in Cognac for main and cheese dessert. Best food we had during our stay - would highly recommend and suggest you go at the beginning of your stay at the cottage as it's likely you'll want to return! All in all would highly recommend the cottage and am hoping to return next year.

“A real getaway from the bustle of life”
Reviewed July 24, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Very quiet rural gite and lots of lovely wildlife, excellent local wine and fabulous heated pool. Traffic on the road was 3 cars/day and 1 tractor, buzzards and turtle doves on the phone/electricity wires. Beds really comfortable, BBQ worked well, and kitchen well furnished. Nearest village had excellent bakery and lovely restaurant. Local wine and Pineau very good. Fast access to La Rochelle, Royan and islands for those who wanted something busier:-(
