We stayed at Ferme-manoir de Pont-Jegu during the wettest week of the summer in Brittany, so we got to know this lovely stone house well.
The kitchen is well equipped with a great oven and plenty of space on the kitchen island.
The downstairs bathroom has a toilet and a very good shower, with a good washing machine which came in handy spinning wet clothes from the rain!
The lounge is spacious with a massive stone fireplace, which we actually got to use to warm the downstairs as it was unseasonable cool.
The 3 bedrooms are a good size and so is the main bathroom with the two sinks and large corner bath.
The outside garden area is really lovely with the plunge pool (not heated), a nice decking area around it and the stone patio. Our Labrador came with us and having the garden completely enclosed with the walls and fence was brilliant, he could be left without the fear of him escaping.
We enjoyed our stay here very much, there are a few things though that could be improved. The beds came with one square pillow per person, which is not ideal and we actually went and brought more for the some members of our group. I know this sounds trivial to some, but not when you have family members in their 60s sleeping with three pillows.
My bed was one of the single beds in the twin room, I think the mattresses had seen days but was surprisingly pretty comfy and for kids it would be fine.
The 3 seat sofa and the 3 additional chairs were a little tired, not ideal for 6 adults but fine for a family with younger children.
The hot water is heated at night in a large tank, (I am guessing about 250 litres) once the water has been used up that's it gone until the following morning. We found out the hard way, when four of us had hot baths to warm up from the persistent rain on the second day of the stay. We arrived late on our arrival and departed early on our departure so did not get a chance to meet the owners who would have probably told us this. We did call them and they did explain the above, they were friendly and left us a lovely Breton flan ready for when we arrived.
The town of Cléder is lovely and has a great supermarket, a good butcher, great boulangerie and a very good pizza restaurant. There are plenty of deserted beaches within a 15 minutes drive which are brilliant for dog walking. If you are bringing a dog the Vets in Saint-Pol-de-Léon is very good and knew the procedure for dog's passport ( Vets has moved from the location on Google maps)
This house is full of rustic charm, we enjoyed our stay despite the awful weather and I would defiantly recommend a stay here.
We had a fantastic time staying in the beautiful Ferme-manoir de Pont-Jegu! The stone fire, beautiful garden and well equipped house was a great home from home. We loved exploring the nearby beaches, they were gorgeous and the sea was very clear! Pool was a bit on the cold side but it didn't detract from the fun we had. François and his wife were very friendly and helpful, full of good tips and the house keeper was welcoming as well. Would definitely recommend a visit here!
We loved this house - its old stone walled charm gave us the privacy we wanted for us and the freedom for the dogs. Very well equipped and comfortable, and situated just a couple of miles from the beautiful, large, sandy and often secluded beach at Cleder. We thought St Pol De Leon and Roscoff were lovely and would recommend both for a visit. Thank you for letting us spend 10 days in this idyllic house - we are going home relaxed and with fond memories.
