This was our Second stay in three years. It is an Ideal place to recharge the batteries and unwind after the stress of busy worklife. Beautiful location, large design rooms and unobtrusive staff. The concept is all about embracing nature and self sustainable organic living, but this is all wrapped up in a blanket of delicious luxury. the hotel is 10 minutes walk from a secluded beach and there is also an eternity pool with, thankfully, very few children. Every evening one can get together with the other guests over a glass of wine around the fire, or simply escape to a secluded space to watch the sunset over the ocean. We dont use the spa, but heard that the massage and other treatments are wonderful. We will be back...

Enough can't be said about the rooms and the rest of the hotel. We stayed in their pinnacle room, Oxala, which is one of the best hotel rooms I think we've stayed in. The hotel really does have charm. However we like to chose our destinations by the food also and this would score a 0 I am afraid. The food is not offensive but it lacks any kind of flavour and originality. One dish had 3 ingredients made up of steak, bread and an egg - nothing else! The salads were really basic too, not even a dressing?! Just leaves and some fruit/ meat. You want to eat something and think wow, especially when there is nowhere else to visit for food We never looked forward to lunch or dinner. For that reason I could never recommend this place to anyone. A real shame. I just hope they take this on board.

My husband and I recently spent four nights here. The modern design of the hotel is extraordinary. No detail is overlooked. Neither we nor the other guests could stop taking pictures. It is one of the most beautiful modern hotels we have ever seen. Our room, Oliveria, had an olive tree growing right in it! The owners and staff work hard to make guests feel relaxed and at home. Most nights the owners invite guests for wine around the outdoor fire. One night the owner even arranged for a small dinner Ina nearby wine cellar. The food I the restaurant was quite good and the surroundings even better. Not a whole lot to do in the area but a perfect place to relax.

Stayed in one of the villas (#3) for four days. We had a super time.

Because we were able to self-cater, we only ate from the restaurant once - it simply wasn't good enough (bar the vegetables - more of that later). The verbally delivered menu sounded fantastic but the actual dinner fell well short of what I expect Portuguese food to be like (I love it) or at a realistic price point.

To be very clear, the breakfasts are truly excellent, which makes the food later in the day all the more disappointing.

Ok, grumble over. Like I said, I cooked and there is a great market in Santa Cruz you can buy fresh fish and excellent meat, bread and fruit etc. The hotel also can arrange vegetable boxes that are delivered like a flower arrangement after a guided tour of their excellent gardens. As it was June, the variety and quality was superb and fair value at €35 for enough to feed us for 3 days. If you like to cook (and therefore are in one of the villas not the hotel), don't miss this.

The hotel's location, staff, design, standards of maintenance and overall experience are utterly brilliant - this place both surprised and delighted us.

Just walking to the beach and around the clifftops was a joy - this place is total magic.

The staff are all lovely - helpful, natural, outgoing and really make the place. Gilberto and Tanya stood out but that's only due to me remembering their names - everyone is great.

The villas themselves are very good - some slight imperfections but nothing that matterially affected our stay.

If food makes or breaks your stay, carefully consider whether this place is right for you. If this is just one of many things that make an enjoyable holiday, you may well have the time of your lives.

An inspiring and beautiful place. Would be good at anytime of the year.

Room Tip: Villa #3 has sea views and lots of outdoor space. None of the villas are 100% private however.

We are travelling a lot, always searching for that one place that is combining all things we need, and here we found it! The location is great, outside of a charming village but still near enough no to be lost. The hotel itself is a marvellous building, absolutly contemporary or even timeless (poeple open for architecture and art will LOVE it) with lots of wood, concrete, glass and a collection of natural materials just put everywhere. All the places are open to the outside and are filled with plants that were just cut from the own gardens. The rooms on the ground floor are the ones you want, they have a terrasse facing the garden that leads to the beach and are just soooo cosy. The beach is 20 min away, by walking through the dunes and then getting down the cliffs by stairs. It is not the kind of beach you want to go swimming since the waves are quite strong but it is a marvellous rough place to relax and stay in the dunes.
If you are a couple that want to enjoy each other this is the perfect place to stay in. For kids it might be a bit boring since their are no kids facilities as it seems.
The restaurant only serves "alternative" food, so don't expect burgers etc. but healthy food (fish/meat/veg) on local salad leaves with a good local wine.
We stood at one of the villas, which is outside the hotel inbetween 20-30 other villas that are (now) not occupied and maybe still looking for an owner. They are well done and equipped but don't have any privacy, big windows (some without curtains) ans gardens that face each other. Next time we will for shure get a Love room in the hotel, they are just the better choice for two, also because the private pool is not heated and everyone can see on it.
The design of the whole hotel is clearly a masterpiece and the concept shows that its owners must have traveled a lot themselves to get so nicely inspired. For all global trotters in search for a cosy place to relax and get inspired, this is it!

the most perfect experience for a relaxing break among lovely people...the owner Marla and Goncal are so friendly and welcoming a stay here is like having a second home.
bedrooms are out of this world and exceptional...we have been fortunate to stay in some of the best hotels in the world and this is one of our favorites and best..
If you want a relaxing holiday where you can pamper yourself with Spa,pool, sand and sea look no further we wish i could give the experience 6 stars.
Food is simple and to our palate good, much from their garden and organic and the owners are constantly striving to improve.
Sergio is a wizz with the Gin and Tonic and all the staff are so wonderful you must go there.
were hoping to go back as soon as possible...
Good luck to this lovely organic hotel you all deserve to do well.
love Simon and julie x
