It's hard to describe how beautiful and incredible this place is. Amazing concrete architecture mixed with natural materials, wood and linen furniture, fine and detailed decoration. Only 14 rooms, all different, with fireplace and sea view over the Atlantic Ocean. We stayed in the Terra room, with its huge bathroom with candlelights everywhere. Music in all common areas and available in the room. Lots of terraces, outdoor fires prepared at night, spa with hammam and sauna, some yoga classes. We did't enjoy the outdoor swimming pool in March but looked awsome too. Good and complete breakasft included in the price. Grilled fresh seabass for dinner, and most of veggies come from the vegetable garden. Friendly staff and welcoming owners. It's a peaceful paradise, perfect to disconnect and relax. Bicicles available at reception. There is a cinema room with many dvd. Very romantic place!
Nothing very interesting in the area but you don't need it, just enjoy the place. It' 1 hour drive from Lisbon.

Room Tip: All rooms are different and very well decorated. Bigger rooms and better views in the 3 rooms upstai...

Areias do Seixo was a great discovery. The premises are carefully designed with good taste, the room was comfortable and full of décor details. There’s a Jacuzzi at the entrance of the room. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, attentive and friendly service, and regional food is tasty. The room has a deck with a table and some view. The building is not on the beach but it is within walking distance. The spa was empty, but there’s a small sauna that was on and we had a relaxing time. The heating of the pool was not sufficiently strong to invite me in. My regret is that I only stayed one night. The hotel has some many places to explore. Every little corner was carefully designed and is worth exploring, and spending some time. The service was friendly. I can’t wait to return.

Room Tip: It's difficult to add a tip. Just try everything the hotel has to offer.

We stayed in the room at the very end of the corridor (after going down the stairs turn right). The design of the hotel was amazing and the gold rooms are spacious, have fireplaces, patio and large bathrooms. Much creativity, ingenuity, professionalism and passion have gone into creating an exciting boutique five star luxury environment with downsides. The bed was very comfortable; fine pillows, duvet and bedding.

There are 2 downsides for the international luxury traveller - the first being the flies.

There are lots of standing water features at the hotel and unfortunately this breeds mosquitos and flies. They are especially prevalent when you are eating and also the food and drinks at the breakfast buffet has flies sitting on it so do watch what you eat. You get tea and cake when you arrive at the hotel which is nice although one day I noticed 5 slices of cake on separate plates were laid out on a table and all had flies on the cake. I assumed they were unwanted but 10 minutes later when i passed by 5 guests who had just arrived were eating them. The choice of food is limited as the kitchen is small and there are no written menus. There is, however, a blackboard written in Portuguese.

The second downside is that you do not get bills/cheque after each meal to sign, there are no prices and no bills until you check out. So you know what to expect, when we checked out of the hotel and got the bill we noticed our dinners averaged 100 euros for 2 of us including one bottle of wine. Do check your bill carefully before you check out - we were charged 135euros on 3 occasions for a non-existent taxi. They did quickly remove the 3 charges from the bill though when we pointed out the error.

Do not expect professional corporate four seasons type service. Each staff member has their own quirky personality so this means you may click with some of them and not so much with others. The staff do try hard to please though. Also note there is no TV in the room though staff were always trying to help and brought us one as there was one spare. The breakfast buffet is cold but they will do eggs for you if you ask.

One word! Superplace!
We were here for 4 nights, from which 3 in a Gold room and 1 in a Land room. We were enthousiastic till the end. This is probably the most relaxing hotel we were ever in. The hotel is about 2-3 years old and totally build out of natural materials. It all fits. The architect who designed this deserves a statue. It is not cheap, but it is worth all of it. See the website, i promise you, you won't be dissapointed. It is unbeliefable, but even I got used to the very relaxed (... Is she on drugs...) people, mostly ladies, who work there after 1 day already. All dressed in 'eco-clothes'. In the beginning we thought the man serving in the restaurant was wearing his pyamas. If you go, ask specifically for the Gold room the most to the left. I think ti's called 'Duoro'. I promise you, you will regret you have to leave. A big bathroom, a jacuzzi outside, a big sleepingroom With a wonderfull fireplace, an outside With a few over the beautiful garden, the dunes and the Sea. For all 4 days I thought, what more can you possibly want????
Just one thing. I would likje the restaurant to be a bit better. Food is ok, not the standard of the hotel. I think it is mostly or even all eco or organic, but it could be a bit more sofisticated. The choise of good wines is excellent by the way...

GO!!!!

Room Tip: Gold room 'Duoro'

Simply perfect...
The localization, 1h from Lisbon, 30 minutes from Obidos, on the coast (10-15 minutes walking till the beach), but you feel like there's nothing around you but the hotel land... The isolation can be total if you wish so...
The hotel environment is superb… From the outside architecture and landscape where everything is perfectly matching the zen-eco approach, to every small corner of the inside with a special chair, piano, table, flower… Imagine yourself surrounded by a perfect harmony, where every detail was thought… You have a nice pool, a lake, bicycles…
The rooms… Only know from experience the “Silver” which is modern decorated and just beautiful… has the most perfect bathroom I have ever experienced… which could seem odd but, go and try… From the rooms you have an individual and very nice deck with view to the property and where you can assist an amazing sunset, eat, or just stay in the sun.
The personal is all very nice, always with a smile and, given the dimension (15 rooms), available all the time for anything you might need.
The Spa is very nice and the massages are technically very good.
Breakfast is just great. The restaurant has some good options. I loved the Horta Salad! But you find risottos, meat and fish…
The hotel organizes daily activities and we were lucky to have a glass of wine with traditional “sausages” by the lake, after sunset, and it was such a nice experience where Gonçalo created a nice social contact between the guests’ group.
It is the type of hotel that you go to stay in the facilities… Within a total relaxing environment but yet with different things to do. Definitely a “must get back”.

Along with some friends we spent a week in September in Villa 2.The area has some wonderful cliffs and beaches, though the waves can be a bit frightening . The nearest beach can be reached just a short walk away from the villa through the sand dunes. The weather was perfect almost every day but even if it had not been so warm and sunny the villa and hotel have enough facilities to keep visitors well occupied. The hotel has had many reviews which give visitors to this site a good idea of its advantages so I will concentrate on villa 2.

From the outside the villa is very attractive , built with wood, stone and lots of glass.Inside it is large, spacious, bright and airy with the rooms and outside terraces and spaces spread over 3 floors. There is a very comfy lounge with a large television on the ground floor, a very modern kitchen and dining area with excellent cooking facilities on the middle floor and upstairs again are three bedrooms, all with ensuites.

All the furniture, fixtures and fittings are new, modern, tasteful and make you wish that your own home was so modern and luxurious. I particularly liked the remote controlled electric blinds on all the windows. Little things!

We sat outside choosing shade or sunlight at any time of day, slept (or some of us did) on a lounger on the grass by the pool, ate at the table in the the outside barbecue area or relaxed on the terrace with a drink at the end of the day watching the sun sink into the sea. One of us even took a dip in the pool, the surface of which ripples like the sea! All the outside seating areas are well supplied with comfortable seating as the one who kept falling asleep can attest to! For such an arid region the gardens are green and well manicured.

All in all we really enjoyed the area and the villa.

This really is an extraordinary place and one of the few places we promised ourselves we would return to. The rooms are fantastic. Ours - Mi Ma Bo had a fabulous deck with a view across the gardens and dunes down to the sea. The owners are passionate and their staff give a very professional yet personal level of service which is rare to find elsewhere. The setting really makes it although you can't believe this as you drive along this rather developed stretch of coast. Walking down to the beach each day was a great way of switching off and Goncalo taking us mussel foraging one morning was a highlight - certainly beats a day in the office! In fact, it beats many other hotels where it's all about the "scene". There is a very distinct ambience here but it is never forced and we struck up some great conversations with a wide range of couples. They have villas for families but in truth this is a place to be just the two of you. The only area I would recommend they improve is the food which was absolutely fine but just failed to do justice to their amazing vegetable garden and passionate belief in living close to nature. I have told them ( only half jokingly) am sending some Ottolenghi cookbooks to inspire the lovely people in the kitchen - it will then be perfect and I don't think I'll be able to drag myself away.

Room Tip: They are all good but the ones on upper floors feel a little more private.
