“A lovely peaceful spot”

This was a present to my wife on her 40th. We wanted some peace and quiet and really couldn't have asked for more in that respect. It's a pretty village and has a decent pub a 5 minute walk away.

Like the last reviewer we too enjoyed the lovely hot tub in a bit of drizzle each evening, but the large umbrella (not broken, just needed adjusting) covers the whole of the hot tub so it doesn't matter what the weather is doing.

There is a shared garden (though each has a private patio), and I suspect we were next door to the same people as mentioned in the last review who did let their dogs run around. On occasion they came to our doors and tried to come inside, but frankly by that time I was so relaxed I was practically catatonic so didn't really care.

If you want to get away from it all and recharge the batteries, I recommend this cottage and village.

“So much promise, so much of a let down!”

We booked this cottage mainly for the private hot tub, as it was a friends birthday request. Initially when we arrived at the location, we were really pleased with the place. However, when we began to actually use the facilities on offer we were underwhelmed.

Wanting to use the hot tub in slight drizzle proved impossible as the outdoor umbrella to shelter the tub was broken - so we couldn't comfortably use it. Wanting to quickly heat up food in the microwave also proved difficult as the appliance was faulty. The wifi was non-existent (there was no hub in the cottage so we could only assume that we were attempting, very unsuccessfully, to use a connection in one of the adjoining cottages). This didn't work at all. And to top things off we had to deal with a neighbour's Boxer dog roaming around, urinating and doing it's business wherever it chose.

All in all, a bit of a disaster in a place with so much promise.

“excellent”

We had no problem finding our way to the property. The cottage was spotless and clean. Although there is no shop in the village we came prepared with all we needed for the time we stayed. Loved the village walked my cockerpoo puppy Molly all over she loved the water!! We only stayed two nights wished it had been more.

“Lovely rural location”

A lovely small village with an easy walk to the local pub. The apartment is a middle one of three with parking at the front and bedroom & bathroom upstairs. Availability of a washing machine and dryer plus dedicated WiFi would have enhanced our visit. It is quite a remote rural location in a valley, so no mobile access, which is accepted and quite nice on holidays. Overseas guests travelling by car will experience narrow UK rural roads in and out of the village - drive carefully. The apartment is spacious and laundry facilities would assist longer stays.

Liked best: Real intimate village rural position
Liked least: WiFi in Apartment 2 (middle apartment) does not have independent WiFi, relying on access to that available in other apartments.

“Beautiful, peaceful, rural - a dream minimoon!”
Reviewed August 5, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My husband and I booked two chapel terrace on the recommendation of friends for our 'minimoon' after we got married. We travelled with our 10 month old son and our little pug! The first impression of the cottage is beautiful. It is set in the rural outskirts of Appleby and the small village is postcard perfect. The cottage itself was beautifully presented with modern décor and the garden area outside is just amazing. Totally fenced in so our dog was free to wander, the hot tub area was wonderful and we both felt a sense of instant relaxation. The cottage is well stocked with white goods, cutlery etc.
My only down fall is, and I agree with a previous reviewer, the upstairs bedrooms were in desperate need of blinds or black out curtains. Thankfully we had beautiful sunshine for our stay but with that came light flooding in through the sky light and windows at 4am! The second bedroom where our son stayed was a little darker, but still incredibly light. I would also suggest a highchair as under the stairs there are things such as brushes, ironing board. I think a high chair would make a welcome addition.

That said, these are only minor faults and other than that the cottage was just perfect. So relaxing. The local pub is just a short walk and served lovely pub food. You are no more than a 15 minute drive to busier areas if you wanted to get out but we personally enjoyed the peace and quiet in the hot tub!

Highly recommend, can't wait to book again!

“Needs blinds urgently!”
Reviewed June 5, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

So the house is great, it's finished really nice, great space enough for 4 adults and two dogs. Everything you need in the kitchen, hot tub is amazing. However neither of the bedrooms have a blind so at this time of year when the sun comes up at 5, so do you! It's horrendously bright and the curtains do nothing. In the bigger bedroom the skylight also needs a blackout blind. No one hates the thought of it being glorious sunshine outside but no one wants to be up at the crack of dawn when you've spent all night in the hot tub!
It really is great but those blinds would make it perfect!
