We stayed here for 3 nights as my friend was getting married and holding her reception at this hotel. They were extremely pleasant, welcoming and offered a very good service. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one and the wedding reception was lovely making it a very special day. The food at the reception was good (especially the sticky toffee pudding). The bar area was also warm, friendly and welcoming and they do some reasonable bar meals. Breakfast was in the main dining area and there was a wide variety of choice. The cooked breakfast was hearty and you could choose what/how you wanted it cooked. I thought the only thing that let it down (and it is a small thing) was that as we stayed for 3 nights, we noticed that in the morning the bread and croissants were not fresh everyday (they were stale and crusty around the edges and you could tell that the amount there the next day was the same amount when you had finished the day before) - so I do think they were not throwing away what had been left out but putting them out again the next day. Also the same with the yoghurts that on the first day was a variety with a full bowl but by the last day was just 3 or 4 of the same flavour which led us to believe they were leaving them out and the re-refrigerating what was left and producing it the next day. However, as I said in the grand scheme of things it was just a small thing that could be improved upon.

Stayed one night in second week of January on our way to Perthshire. After hours of driving in the dark along the M6 we pulled into this apparently small elegant looking hotel which has plenty of parking. Inside was like walking into "The Tardis" with modern, medium sized, quiet, clean and very comfortable rooms. The restaurant rooms are very well appointed and breakfast had a wide variety of choice coupled with quality service.

Leaving the hotel we felt refreshed and pampered.

Overall a real delight whether just to rest your head or utilise the bar and lounge facilities. We will look to staying again in the future.

The total cost was the same as the motorway hotels!
The experience was somewhat different.

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting a wonderful review following your stay with us. Indeed, our hotel looks very deceiving from the outside; the hotel offers 31 bedrooms, four function suites and a cosy, well-stocked lounge and bar. I am pleased to read you enjoyed your stay with us and our facilities. We hope to see you again in the future, Kind Regards Samantha

Stopped at the Gables Hotel in Gretna for one night as a business stop over. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel and room were very clean and comfortable. Food was prepared with consideration and care. Breakfast was included and you couldn't have asked for better quality or choice. Overall, spot on and great value for money. I'd stop there again no probs. Well done The Gables - good to see a family hotel is better than many corporate......

Stayed for a night last week and it was quiet, warm and cosy. The staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent. Clean and comfortable rooms. Free WiFi and plenty of parking so it was a good base on my trip up north.

Stayed again enroute to the Midlands. Hotel still found to have good dinners / breakfast. Asked for room at front of hotel when booking, of which we were given upon arrival. Very pleasent staff, especially at reception.

Room Tip: keep away from rooms at back of hotel
