We were visiting for a wedding in Gretna and the room was booked for us so we had no idea what to expect- pleasant surprise in probably an understatement!
The room was clean and spacious, and breakfast was lovely =)
The reception was next door at solway lodge, and i dont think i have had such a good steak in ages!

Definitely would recommend to anyone.

We were on a cartrip in Scotland and this was our best stay. Beautiful room, great breakfast, safe parking and a warm welcome. What more can we add? We were four adults and paid 100 pounds, it was definately worth it. Highly recommended.

Wow, just had my wedding cermony and thanks to fantastic accomodation at The Maple Tree guest house it made a lovely break for me and my partner. The guest house provides lovely clean rooms with fresh bedding and luxury towels in the bathroom. The beds are so very clean comfortable, had the best sleep ever. Honestly i couldn't get out my bed in the morning.
The guest house is family run who were very welcoming and friendly. Gillian the owner makes a lovely full cooked breakfast for the morning with tea. We are already organising another break to come and stay at The Maple Tree. Guest house was fantastic and so was the family. Spot on.

'Lorraineonthemove' has already said everything so well - what more can I add, other than my thanks and highest recommendation to others.

Thank you Gillian and co for adding the icing on to a truly magical weekend away. Our family were up for a wedding; having never been to Gretna before, we were a bit uncertain as to what to expect. We need not have worried!

The Maple Tree is a credit to its owners. We wanted for nothing. The hotel is scrupiously clean, warm and friendly. Everything you could possibly need has already been thought about in advance. The cooked breakfast was faultless and set us all up really well for the rest of the day. We are looking forward to many more trips over the border in the months to come - wedding, or no wedding!

I would also add, the people of Gretna are some of the warmest, most welcoming I have ever met, nothing is too much trouble, and there is a smile, and hello everywhere you go. Leave the car, and get out walking! D:)

Gillian is so friendly and welcoming and from the moment you step in through the door of the Maple Tree you are made to feel right at home.

Our room was reasonably spacious and very comfortable, with lovely decor. We had a family room (1 Double Bed & 1 Single Bed) and a small sofa to relax or read a book.

The Beds were comfortable with clean, fresh and warm bedding. The wall mounted TV was at a perfect angle to enjoy late night viewing from the comfort of your bed. Plenty of Tea/Coffee, milk & sugar which was topped up daily and the water was lovely for brewing the tea! (There was even sachet of hot chocolate for our son)

The en suite was spotlessly clean and the towels were clean, fresh and felt so soft. The shower was fantastic with great water pressure and always hot water.

The dining room is lovely and spacious and bright with lovely natural daylight, which makes your breakfast even more appealing. There is also a huge widescreen TV on in the background, which is nice to catch up on the news and weather before you travel.

Breakfast is served between 8am – 9am. You have a variety of cereals and juices to choose from along with the Full Scottish Breakfast served with hot toast, tea/coffee, jam and marmalade. You will not leave hungry, I guarantee it!!!

Gretna has an Outlet Village with a good selection of shops from Jewellery, shoe, Men’s and Ladies boutiques, as well as the usual gift shops. Not much for older kids though but you could easily spend 1 – 2 hours here before they get bored.

About a mile up the road you’ll reach Gretna Green, with the World Famous Old Blacksmith's Shop and Museum. Again you could spend 2 – 3 hours here just browsing though the gift shops or just taking in the beautiful surroundings with unusual sculptures scattered about the place. There is also a playground here for the ‘wee ones’ to entertain themselves.

We came to Gretna to attend a family wedding and the overall experience was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Maple Tree B&B. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here, especially for a romantic getaway or a base for exploring the Dumfries and Galloway area.

Thank you once again to Gillian and her family for making our stay so memorable, warm and relaxed.
