A great spot to learn more about the different ethnies that are making Vietnam so unique. Very inform and nicely displayed artifacts, as well as a lovely garden to see the tradition houses. Near the West Lake, easy to reach by taxi / motorbike.

The museum is large and well laid out. Guide pamphlets in a range of languages and good facilities. There was nothing wrong with the museum it was great just not a subject matter I was overly interested in with so much to see in the city. A miss for me

A place to enlighten us of the diversity of people of Vietnam. The musuem itself is quite small but informative. The garden behind with various dwelling structures of various tribes is the must visit area. Climb up the stair and enter their abode to stay a while there and you can understand their living condition. There is an interesting tomb with wood carvings representing fertility in the midst of death. Awesome. Down to earth place to reflect our reality.

This is absolutely a must-see for anyone who actually wants to know about Vietnam. There are 54 ethnic groups that make up this incredible country. Some groups are ancient and have been in Vietnam forever. Others have only arrived fairly recently - generally escaping prosecution somewhere else.

The museum is really well organized and all of the displays are labeled in Vietnamese, French and English so it's very easy to follow along. One bizarre thing that I recognized is that there are very few actually "old" artifacts but they certainly reflect the wide variety of cultural traditions.

Don't miss the special exhibitions in the SE Asia building next door - and the outdoor exhibitions behind the museum.
