I have just spent an enjoyable short break at the Slate Shed in Snowdonia with my wife and her perents. It is very difficult to get a B&B that caters for my wife who is wheelchair bound. The Seren room has a very big wet room and was more than suitable with a very comfortable double bed. From the breakfast room there is stunning views of the Mawddach Estuary. We were centrally placed in Snowdonia and had some wonderful drives. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.

Wow......, where shall I start.

We have been lucky enough to stay at the Graig Wen/Slate Shed guest house and cottages for our wedding accomodation this weekend in Wales and it has been the perfect place for ourselves an our guests to all be together for our most special day.

The location and views are spectacular looking directly out over the enchanting Mawddach estuary to the sea.

The guest house rooms are all so individually exquisite with lovely touches such as hand made salted caramels, waffles and natural toiletry products.

Please note the beds are that comfy that you may need two alarm clocks to ever get up in the morning for breakfast which you will not want to miss.

The morning breakfast is of such a high standard, better than any guest house I have stayed in with an abundance of local produce , preserves, bread , honies, yoghurts, eggs , sausages and the star of the show is the thick cut local bacon which is like a succulent gammon steak :)) . Overall an outstanding breakfast experience.

The service is second to none, both Sarah and John, the owners, are most welcoming and helpful for anything that is needed and are a great source of local knowledge. Matt the manager is a great guy and was most helpful with liasing with some of our guests that were en route to the cottages we had booked for them.

To Summarise, this place has been so perfect for our wedding accomodation in every way and has exceeded all of mine and my new wife's expectations words do not really do justice.

We will be returning soon to stay in one of their yurts in the woodland grounds of the Graig Wen along with many of our wedding party who were all blown away with this place.

If you ever have the chance to stay here then do, you will not be dissapointed.

Thank you to Sarah, John and Matt (along with all the behind the scene staff) for making our wedding weekend so special with your attentive service and your exquisite accomadation, look forward to seeing you soon.

Mike and Caroline.

Mr and Mrs Reid x :)

If you like delicious breakfasts (with a huge choice), stunning views & funky decor this is the place for you. Lots of choice for vegetarians too. We felt very welcomed & we had a lovely chilled week exploring the estuary, castles, gardens etc. A lovely walk along the estuary to Barmouth across the footbridge... Hope to be back.

Room Tip: The estuary facing rooms are lovely...

The Slate Shed has the most stunning location, looking out over the estuary and mountains. Watching the sun set or rise here is breath-taking. We were warmly greeted with tea and biscuits and sat outside on the lovely terrace. Our room was cosy with fantastic blankets and cushions that I wanted to take home! The breakfast choices were great - pancakes with blueberries or bacon and maple syrup, granola and yoghurt sundae or a traditional full Welsh. Sarah was really helpful and welcoming and gave some great recommendations for places to eat locally (you must try Indiana Cuisine - quite something!). The Slate Shed is probably the most stylish and tastefully decorated of all the B&Bs we stayed in during our Welsh trip, with fantastic 1950's furniture and cool artwork. We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: We stayed in Sain whih is a cosy, gorgeously decorated room at the front of the building. It has an...

What a lovely place. I would recommend rooms facing the estuary...though they are more expensive. They have the most outstanding views and don't get the little street noise (it isn't really loud though). The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, very quirky yet practical. Also, check-in is on the late side from 4-6pm.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, with hubby and parents. We all loved it. A great house with a lovely feel, very chilled out. A warm welcome with tea and cakes. Comfy cosy rooms. Absolutely fabulous breakies with a great view over the estuary. Thank you Graig Wen, especially for the yummy homemade bread for toast in the morning. OMG.

Spent 3 nights with our 2 girls and dog in our quest to discover Mid/North wales and see the mountains! First hols with our dog and a real success as they are so dog friendly. Sarah is the most wonderful and helpful host, never too busy to help. She told us all the best places to walk and obtain the best landscape photos. It's a stunning location with plenty of local places and walks to discover, that actually you needn't venture far! The estuary is beautiful and with mountains behind you can climb to view the sea in one direction and lakes in the other! The service she and John provide is more like a hotel than B&B! The breakfast is great and when you arrive Sarah makes you a lovely pot of tea and cake - so kind after our long drive. The rooms are contemporary and full of artworks and great books and very good quality tea and coffee/hot chocolate facilites, yummy mint chocs and flowers from the garden. lovely touches, oh and great cotton bed linen too. Only one criticism, the rooms are much smaller than they appear in the photos and that was disappointing at first. BUT all the effort they put into your stay makes up for it! Thank you guys and we wish you every success with your business and hopefully we will make it back one day to stay in one of the yurts you also offer for rent!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms overlooking the estuary not the road.
