Just spent a fantastic week in one of the rental cottages at Graig Wen. The Mawddach Estuary is a stunning place (even given some of the worst weather on record!). The happily accommodated our dog, nice touch with the welcome "bone" and every time we said can we borrow or do you have, the answer was always yes.
Thank you for a great week, we will be back.

Stayed for 2 nights in Miri Mawr - for a birthday celebration. The facilities are great and the thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers and handmade chocolates make it really special.
The art work, beautiful Welsh wool throws and cushions contribute to an ambience of warmth and welcome. The breakfasts are delicious. Sarah also booked us in to a local restaurant both nights which we really appreciated.
Described as 'dog friendly' we had arranged for our dog to be with us and the welcome was extended to her with a chew awaiting her in the room as well as a towel for muddy paws!
The Mawddach Trail is just down the hill and the location is excellent for exploration.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the Estuary have a fabulous view

Stayed here for 2 nights in July 2012 in the Bran Room. It was a lovely room with a beautiful bathroom which included a freestanding bath and separate shower cubicle. The room had a beautiful view overlooking the Mawddach Estuary and was very peaceful. The bed was so comfy!

Our hosts were very friendly and really helpful in providing local information and bookings for evening meals etc. There were lots of thoughtful things provided i.e. dvds available to borrow, magazines and books and it had a very homely feel.

Breakfast was freshly prepared and very enjoyable with a good choice available.

The location is ideal, we travelled to Snowdon one day which took about an hour, and on another day we walked the Mawddach Trail which was great and gave an opportunity to visit the surrounding towns of Dolgellau and Barmouth.

Overall I would not hesitate to recommend the Slate Shed and would stay again if back in the area.

My first trip to North Wales and what a fantastic time I had! Our room was lovely, comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were delicious and enjoyed every morning bird watching! A perfect location with plenty to do, I had a fabulous beach trek and we enjoyed the Lakes, Portmeiron, Harlech Castle and the railway trip from Pothmadog. Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. We ate out every night at restaurants our hosts recommended and were not dissapointed! The only downside was the cost of the taxis into Dolgellau, £15 each way! On top of your meal this worked out to be a tad expensive!

Had a brlliant 3 night stay, great room and a good breakfast to start the day.

Sarah is very helpful and a mine of local information

.Anyone into birdwatching can't go wrong ...... non-stop activity on the feeders (inc Siskin & Redpoll) and a Yellowhammer on the hedge while you're having breakfast take some beating. Plus some good local walks.

It is an excellent base for touring ........ I visited the Dyfi Osprey Project which is only a 40 minute drive away.

The George 3rd a couple of mile down the road is well recommended for dining.

Just arrived home after a two night break at this extremly comfortable, dog friendly Bed and Breakfast.

Location, accomodation, breakfast and friendly atmosphere unbeatable.

The only disappointment was that after being out in the rain all day we had to go out to eat because we hadn't pre ordered a snack earlier in the day. We would have preferred to stay in the comfort of the B & B but instead we had to go out and face the elements again.

The reason we were given was that they had run out of bread but no alternatives were offered.

Otherwise 10/10.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay here despite the wild weather. We don’t offer evening meals but are pleased to provide a table booking service at some of the excellent local pubs and restaurants. We make our own bread here so let guests know that packed lunches or snacks need to be ordered in advance and are subject to availability. We're sorry that on this occasion at 6.30pm on a Sunday evening we simply didn’t have any food in the house suitable to offer guests and local shops were shut. The pub 5 minutes drive away always has tables available on a Sunday and I believe provided a hearty meal which would have been far more appreciated than a tin of beans! We hope to welcome you again and with a bit of notice you can sample sandwiches with John's delicious home-made bread and Sarah's Dad's famous plum chutney!

We stayed here for 3nights for my birthday, booked last minute and weren't disappointed. We really enjoyed the relaxed friendly hospitality and homely yet stylish decor.

On arrival we were immediately offered a pot of tea in the dining/breakfast room which also came out with buttered drop scones. The views of the estuary from the dining room are WOW and our stay was so relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, I enjoyed both the cooked and continental breakfast during our stay. Sarah had even put a candle in my granola & yoghurt sundae on my birthday:)

We stayed in the room named Sain which had a window to the front, it was cosy for 2 people with 2 big luggage bags but not uncomfortable. Our only niggle if i had to pick one was that the electric shower wasnt very powerful. Next time we will pay more for the rooms overlooking the estuary as the bathrooms also looked amazing!

The little touchs like the extra pots of tea, borrowing books/guides/DVDs, bottled water in the room and help with the exploring surrounding areas really make this a lovely B&B that we'll definately revisit.

During our stay we ate at The Last Inn (Barmouth) and The Cross Foxes (Dolgellau) both very nice the latter being more pricey.

We also found the blue pool which Sarah directed us to, that was well worth the uphill walk and views are amazing! and drove upto to Port Meirion which was lovely we found a 20% off voucher online (www.smartsave.com) which I showed them on my mobile.

Room Tip: We stayed in Sain (room at front), rooms at the rear over look the estuary and have much views and b...
