“How to relax”
Reviewed February 5, 2018 for a stay in November 2017

We are looking forward to returning to Colbrook again(8 times in 4 years). The cottage is just what we need to relax after the stresses of our busy work time, clean tidy and now feels like home from home.We love the views from both the front and the rear of the cottage. The wine and flowers are a warm welcome after our long drive and then relax in the enclosed garden.Just 18 weeks and we are back to Colebrook.

This is the 5th stay at this beautiful cottage and yet again it fulfills all expectations. The cottage is welcoming, warm, clean and comfortable (so relaxing) especially with the coal fire - wonderful, The location is brilliant, so many lovely walks, the Steampacket is great for a nice wine and food. I will be back.

“Beautiful scenery, good location but poor accommodation!”
Reviewed September 27, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

The Isle of Whithorn area was a very interesting place to visit with lots to see and do not too far away so we enjoyed a packed week exploring the beautiful surroundings and coastlines. The Steam Packet Inn on the harbour is a must for a splendid tasty meal.
However, Colebrook leaves a lot to be desired. It stands on the harbour side in a delightful position and we fully appreciate that this property is 'old and characterful' but that is no excuse for shabby and grubby! The whole property could do with a thorough spring clean and updating. In the double bedroom, there was no proper wardrobe and around the window frames there was filth and mould growing! The room was quite depressing to walk into and needed updating badly. Skirting boards throughout needed a good clean. The kitchen was in the same need of updating as the rest of the house with an ancient electric cooker, again dirty inside and out. I could go on......On leaving the accommodation we stripped the bed as we had been asked to do and were further dismayed to see the electric blanket on our bed was again grubby and heavily stained!! I wonder if the owner of this property would be happy to sleep here!!?
We paid top money for this accommodation, we could have and have been to far superior cottages through the years for much less money, so Colebrook was a bitter disappointment.
I would not recommend Colebrook to anyone for a holiday rental it in it's current state! Apologies to the owner for my honest review but I think it's time to thoroughly update and clean up this property!

I was dismayed to read this review and cannot recognise this as Colebrook Cottage.
The double bedroom, far from being depressing, is clean and bright. Agreed it has no traditional wardrobe but instead has a complete walk-in wardrobe room with the facility to also iron.
The bedding has since obviously been checked thoroughly and no signs of stains were visible.
The kitchen has always been retained as traditional, it is however to be refurbished this January as part of a continual upkeep and maintenance programme.

I always ask every guest in advance of their holiday to let me know of anything they may need once they have arrived, to improve their stay and comfort. This guest did not alert me to any issues whatsoever. Had she done so I could have had the house cleaned from top to bottom if thats what she wanted. I was given no opportunity to do so.

The cottage is always beautifully presented for the arrival of our guests. We have guests who continually book with us year after year. Some people even contact me during their stay to book further weeks during the same year. Returning guests come for special birthdays and anniversaries. A far cry from this review. Our guest book is full of positive reviews; remarking on how lovely Colebrook Cottage is and how much they have enjoyed their stay.
I'm sorry this guest did not enjoy her time here but I fail totally to understand her review.

“A stay in Paradise.”
Reviewed October 7, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is a very comfortable cottage at a beautiful location, and all at a very reasonable price. There was a lovely vase of flowers and a bottle of wine welcoming us- really nice touch- to this friendly village. The harbor opposite provided splendid views, the steam Packet Inn, only a few doors away provided splendid ales and relaxing meals. Nearby there was so much to see and do including coastal walks and charming towns to visit.

“Another amazing stay at Colebrook in the Isle of Whithorn”
Reviewed October 20, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed at this property a few years ago with our children. We wanted a weeks break away from the hustle and bustle and were delighted that the cottage was available. The cottage is really cosy and the location is ideal. You can see the sea from the windows at the front and the back. There are lots of great walks including many along the coast. We didn't take our bikes and wish we had so we may well visit again in the future taking our bikes. We invited my in-laws to stay with us as there is a second bedroom. They hadn't been to this part of Scotland and they loved the cottage and area too. We visited the Steam Packet Inn which is a two minute walk from the cottage and serves real ales and delicious food. The weather was excellent too so we had no need to put the real coal fire on which was a pity but it was fantastic to go for long walks and even sunbathe out on the clifftop. We love this cottage and the area. We will definitely be back and would recommend Colebrook to anyone.

“An outstanding location and a lovely cosy cottage”
Reviewed October 10, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Yet again had a wonderful holiday in this cosy cottage and stunning surroundings. The cottage has everything you need and is beautifully presented upon arrival, with lovely fresh flowers - a lovely touch. The views from the cottage are fantastic - overlooking the harbour and the distant hills. There is a lovely garden which was so peaceful to relax in.

Would highly recommend this cottage.
