We really enjoyed our stay at Lamola. The owners were extremely accommodating. The owner’s son-in-law even brought us extra wood mid-week, so that I could fire up the pizza oven. We also received delicous tomatoes and zucchinis from the owner’s garden. The house had everything we needed. It’s the perfect place for those who like to cook and enjoy some comfortable country living. Our kids, 5 and 10 enjoyed picking tomatoes and feeding the chickens with vegetable scraps and gathering eggs every morning. They liked the resident tortoises, Carlota and Fillipo. We made use of the outdoor patio for most meals. The house is also very close to different activities near San Romano, such as the Fortress at Verrucole and the Adventure Park, with ropes and zip lines. We also made easy day trips to Lucca and Florence. We highly recommend this rental for a fun week in the country.
We loved our stay at Rustico Lamola. The house was perfect for us, 4 adults and 4 kids. When we arrived we got some eggs from the hens living on the property! There were also two tortoises living in the backyard which the kids loved to feed with lettuce. The yard was in great condition with a lot of flowers, lemon trees, tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini, strawberries and fresh herbs. The kids loved the pool. It being a saltwater pool was actually a big plus. Much better than a chlorinated pool. We ate all our meals under the pergola in front of the house. It was really nice to be able to sit all together outside in the shade. We used the pizza oven outside two times during our stay and the pizzas came out really great. The closest grocery store was only 5 minutes with car and if you wanted a wider selection you could drive 25 minutes to the nearest super store. The house didn’t have air condition, but that didn’t matter since the temperature was about 22 degrees during the night (due to cold mountain air) even though it was above 30 during the day. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay.
The villa is delightful. Situated in stunning Tuscan countryside, with everything you could need so you really don’t feel like you need to leave at all.
The pool is perfect, a great size with a whirlpool and nice steps in. There were also inflatables and balls to use in the pool as well as other games such as bat and ball for use in the garden.
The garden is lovely and beautifully kept, with colourful flowers and trees. There are chickens in the lower garden area and the owner provided us with their fresh eggs! We also used fresh herbs, lemons and strawberries from the garden in our cooking. There are also two tortoises in a little area which were entertaining. There are plenty of seating areas and lovely loungers but the best part is the undercover terrace, which provides welcome shade at lunchtime when the sun is at its peak. Under the terrace is a very large table with benches, and a table football table which was a lot of fun! We sat out every evening under the terrace drinking wine, listening to music, looking at the view and watching the fireflies when it went dark.
Also in the garden is a built in pizza oven, BBQ and fire pit, all of which we made use of. The night we made pizzas in the pizza oven was one of the best nights of the holiday.
Inside, the villa is very cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped with almost everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are spacious with great views and comfortable beds.
There is a Bluetooth CD player which was great, so you can link up your phone wirelessly and play music. There is a tv but we didn’t use it. There is great WiFi suitable for streaming videos/music.
The nearby towns and villages are lovely to visit and explore, with a bread shop, small supermarket and butchers all within 10minutes drive. There is a great pizza place with a fantastic view less than 10 mins down the road and the prices are very reasonable.
Whilst you are up in the hills, the big sites are not out of reach, we had day trips in Florence, Lucca, Cinque Terre and Lerici, but you do need to leave early. All of which are within 2 hours drive, with Lucca just 45mins away.
We had an amazing and very memorable holiday, and we can’t recommend Rustico Lamola enough.
We wanted a quiet chilled, relaxing holiday with ideallic views and thats exactly what we got. The weather was fabulous and the local people were lovely.
Everything we wanted and needed were within a short drive of the property.
The owners were lovely and brought freshly grown fruit and veg throughout our stay.
They also did everything they could to make our holiday as comfortable as possible
We loved our stay in August with my four children for two weeks. The villa is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Waking up in the morning to the views were incredible . Fresh herbs were abundant and the owners dropped off delicious vegetables which were used to make sauce for the pizzas we made outside . The pool was enjoyed all day and everyday including the jacuzzi. There is a beautiful river at the bottom of the garden full of fish which we had fun in several times. Many restaurants nearby , the closest restaurant does wild boar ravioli which was delicious. Normally I do not revisit the same place as I love to discover new places however we are contemplating visiting again as there is still so much more to see and this is the perfect venue to do it from especially with the train so close. Riccardo thank you for a lovely stay!
Clean, well maintained house and facilities. We loved the fresh herbs that was free for use, the real pizza oven, the fresh eggs from the hens in the pen next to the lawn. The saltwater pool was perfect to spend much time in due to the low chlorine content. Very helpful owner. Several nice small villages in the vicinity and pretty close to Luca. If you like to skip driving theres a train station nearby that takes you to Luca and further. We would definitely recommend this house to our friends.
A lovely villa in beautiful surroundings. The pool was really appreciated in the hot weather and it was great that someone came to clean it every day. We loved the area and the delicious food - Piazza Al Serchio and Punto Simply just up the road in Campogiano were really useful. We didn't travel far (had a 7 month baby with us) but did get to Pisa and Lucca one day. Otherwise spent time relaxing in and around the pool and enjoying our meals on the terrace with the beautiful views. Plenty of space - and the tele was great for the kids to have some downtime or to catch up on the Euros!
