Le Cerisier
Reviewed February 13, 2013

We have just spent three days at Le Cerisier and wished we were able to stay for longer. The rooms were well furnished and spotlessly clean and the downstairs guest lounge area provided that extra space to sit and relax. The breakfasts were ample, including fresh fruit, pastries, cereals and lovely fresh bread, whilst Damien's evening meals were fantastic. Lisa and Damien are lovely hosts; friendly, helpful and welcoming. They made our stay a real pleasure. We would certainly recommend Le Cerisier and hope to return there later this year.

We wanted a homely place to stay while we explored this superb area of France and stumbled upon a gem !

Damian & Lisa could not have been friendlier, with a sublime mixture of leaving us alone yet popping up when we began to think we needed something.

The room (we were in the blue one - sorry forgot if it had a name !) had a rustic charm that had clearly not been an accident, with an en-suite that happily had a shower with excellent pressure. The room had tea/coffee/ water and nibbles in it and as we arrived late in the afternoon we were brought a cold beer and crisps to help us settle in.

Breakfast was served in their charming dining room, good quality food and an attentive service.

We came back to the area 3 weeks later and stayed here again in preference to our other accom in visit 1, which was also excellent, but Damian & Lisa with their friendly approach were 1st choice. This time we brought our 13 yr old son, who was a little off colour, so being able to settle into their guest lounge with candles, local wine, cheese and hams to watch a DVD in the evening was perfect.

The area is superb and we will look forward to exploring it more next summer. We hired a car which is fairly essential as most villages have something to offer but few have it all, so be mobile and make the best of the area. Especially when looking for places to eat, but if you drive for 15/20 mins, at worst, then you will find everything from local pizza to Michelin stars (restaurant reviews will be added by us soon)

Some have commented on parking- we parked immediately outside on both our trips so could not see a down side

Thank you both and we hope to see you again soon.

We've stayed in the apartment as well as a chambre d'hotes room. Both are superb: well appointed and spotless. The food is super. Damian and Lisa are very generous and helpful hosts. Overall: strongly recommended.

My wife and I stayed in Le Cerisier for 6 days while house hunting in the Languedoc area.

It is an excellent place with nice hosts, excellent breakfast and well decorated rooms.

We booked a 3 course dinner during one of the nights and I have to say, it was one of the best dinners we have had during our trip.

The only downside is that there is no garden to sit in and the speed of the internet connection is less than brilliant.

Recommended!

We have stayed several times and Damian and Lisa never disappoint. Rooms are furnished with a beautiful simplicity. All is where it should be. The breakfasts are amazing and will suit every appetite. Damian and Lisa are informative about local attractions and activities - they know stuff! St Genies is a pleasant little town but as other reviewers have indicated, its a good base from which to explore Languedoc's treasures.

Room Tip: Ask for the Blue Room - its very pretty and perfect for couples

Having read a number of rave reviews, expectations were very high. We received a warm welcome (and pot of tea). Damian and Lisa were welcoming and a mine of local information.
Sadly the local bistro recommended was very disappointing - but we had just come from Monaco so perhaps had been spoilt.
The room was very comfortable, we felt a little cramped but had been used to whole apartments for the rest of our holiday so this was probably inevitable. Bathroom was lovely, great shower, loads of towels.
I missed breakfast so can't comment on this.
