Buy some towels!

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 27, 2012via mobile
Modern reasonably clean facility on the southernmost edge of Hua Hin. Logistics not a big problem as local transport is good and inexpensive. Rooms located on 3 floors, try to get a full sea view with balcony. Breakfast is adequate if not somewhat monotonous after a few days. Staff are lovely, attentive and very helpful even if occasionally there is a language barrier. Rooms are well found and almost up to date with most facilities you might expect. Pool and sun terrace are small but adequate as long as it's not too busy, only around 10 beds available, so don't be late! Beach is not the best and water is very dirty, full of detritus various from who knows what passes in the night. To be fair the sea was rough during our stay and this may have been part of the problem. Monkey Mountain is largely a waste if time and effort, smelly, dirty and just such a pity someone doesn't get up there and sort it out. Lastly the towels, yes I'm serious, for a 'boutique' hotel they are VERY SAD. You need three of the miniature pool towels to accommodate a sun lounger and the ragged, thread bear condition of them is not much better than that of those in the rooms! All In all a fair establishment being run by an obviously caring owner who tries very hard to please but now needs to re invest in his business.

great hotel only approx 16 rooms, Staff most helpfull and friendly. Great location down one end of beach away from hustle and bustle of the city beach. Good infinity pool overlooking beach.
As only 16 or so rooms, never overcrowded around pool or on beach.
Only a short shuttle to centre of city, with transport running every 15 minutes. Lots of places to dine and drink close by.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff especially the manager "Na", who makes you feel at home and is very helpfull

Room tip: We had a deluxe room which was very roomy and bright.

We are two couples from Australia and have stayed 8 nights at Nern Chalet. Our rooms were very spacious and also interconnecting. The view from the balcony overlooked the beach and in the evening watching the fishing fleet was amazing. The staff could not do enough for us and anything we needed was seen to. Our manager Na was very helpful with tips of places to go and people to see. Although Nern Chalet is a little out of the centre of town, it presents no problem as the bus goes every 10 minutes and inexpensive taxi and tuk tuk are readily available. Sometimes the staff at Nern Chalet drove us into town for no charge. The meals here were the best we have ever had in our travels. We can highly recommend a stay at Nern Chalet for friendliness, helpfulness, great food and a great location.

My daughter and I spent 4 days at this beautiful hotel. Caranee and her staff treated us like family! Our room was lovely and the entire property was extremely clean and well maintained. We loved the infinity pool overlooking the beach and Monkey Mountain. I can't say enough about the food. The Thai dishes offered were some of the best we had during our two week stay in Thailand to include Bangkok and Chaing Mai. I would highly recommend Nern Chalet to any travelers who are looking for a beautiful property with incredible staff and delicious food!

I stayed six nights in the top floor beachfront suite last week and hated to leave. Nern Chalet Beachfront Hotel is locally owned by Caranee and her 94 year old mother, Wanida. Caranee doted on me, making sure I saw many of the most popular tourist attractions and a few of her own "secret" spots. I was fortunate to share a couple of meals with "mum" and she related stories about building the hotel 27 years ago, when it was the very first hotel in Hua Hin. And speaking of meals, unlike most hotel restaurants, the food here in in the category of gourmet and the included breakfast was delicious and more than I could eat (fresh fruit and homemade yogurt every morning, too!)

Though this hotel Is 27 years old it is well maintained, with modern facilities, including an infinity pool that overlooks the Gulf of Thailand. It's location on the far south end of the beach places it on the best beach - wide and with silly white sand and turquoise water. The further north you go (the closer to the center of town) the poorer the beach gets; in some places in the heart of Hua Hin there is no beach at all and what there is is dirty. And Nern Chalet is just two minutes away from Khao Takiab hill, where monkeys roam wild and the fisherman's village, where you can get fresh caught fish do a pittance. I highly recommend Nern Chalet.

If you like small, peacul and boutique style accommodation then Nern Chalet is for you. Just 10 minutes from the centre of Hua Hin, Nern sits on the beachfront within 5 minutes walk along the beach to the Standing Budda and Monkey Mountain.
The pool is nice, the food was good, the rooms were good.

Room tip: Ocean Front suites are best
