Although possibly a little over-priced, Resort de Paskani made a very nice getaway for a long weekend. The guest house is located right on the beach in the peaceful resort of Khao Takiab, which is about a 10-minute drive from Hua Hin. If you're looking for the bright lights then Khao Takiab is not for you. There are a handful of very quiet bars, the odd restaurant and coffee shop but on the whole it's a very quiet area with a distinctly Thai feel to it. If you want a bit more entertainment, you'll certainly need to go into Hua Hin, The beach at Khao Takiab is nice though and mercifully free from all the vendors that bother you on other beaches. Khao Takiab really is the ultimate place to just chill.

The Resort de Paskani was spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly if not super-efficient (but that's how staff tend to be once you move away from Bangkok) The rooms are done out in a quirky meditteranean style that probably won't appeal to everyone, but I liked it. The swimming pool was a little on the small side but we were the only ones that ever used it during our stay. The breakfast was OK (very much a Thai style version of a full English breakfast)

We would definitely return.
