“Lovely, luxury B and B accommodation in a beautiful setting”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We had a wonderful night stay in the blue room of this fantastic property. It is a beautiful estate with amazing history, which the owners were very happy to tell us about. Really luxury accommodation, making for a perfectly relaxing sleep. We walked to a nearby village for a nice evening meal, and Lyme Regis is also very close by. Breakfast was lovely and the estate is really peaceful and offers plenty of walks. Great for running too!

My husband and I like to seek out unusual and interesting places to stay, and we were not disappointed in this B&B! Our room, the four poster, was enormous and comfortable and I loved the William Morris wall paper! Despite the cold weather, the room felt cosy and warm. The breakfasts kept us going all day. Our friendly hosts made us feel welcome.

Had the most delightful experience here - stayed for two nights while attending courses at River Cottage, Axminster. I had a beautiful 4-poster bed in a huge room. The house and grounds are lovely. And even lovelier are the hosts. Tea on arrival on a tray, breakfast cooked on the aga in the country kitchen. Friendly and memorable- will go back.

Just spent two nights in this wonderful B & B which is part of a Victorian grade II* listed mansion. Our 4 poster-bed room, seemingly the size of half a tennis court, would not be out of place roped off in an historic castle. Beautiful architecture and so sensitively renovated and furnished by our hosts Grayson and Christine and their son. You take breakfast in the kitchen cooked in front of you on the Aga. Just delightful.

After entering the gateway and admiring the grounds of the estate along the 1/4 mile long drive, we were met by the magnificent site of the estate house. We drove down the narrow entrance to the courtyard as instructed and were met by Christine's warm welcome as we unloaded.
On arrival Christine offered us biscuits and fresh milk to accompany are afternoon tea also observing that we had nibbles and drinks we were offered plates, cutlery and glasses. On entering our room with 4 poster bed and the welcome we had received we knew we had made a great choice for our weekend break.
A great breakfast was cooked by Grayson on the Aga on both mornings and nothing was too much trouble.
We strolled round the extensive grounds and even risked the climb down the rickety steps (erosion has played its part at the moment until repairs can be made) to the secluded beach. I'm not sure many people come down as the South west path is further up the cliff. We didn't find any dinosaurs so we wandered back up and around the remaining southern part of the estate, so peaceful and no car noise.
We spent the rest of the time exploring the local area and didn't want to leave.
The fantastic building together with Christine and Grayson's welcome made our visit a truly memorable experience. We will be recommending to our friends and family and we will be returning.
