Was always intrigued by the war history of Slapton Sands,Finally came down for a week in South Devon visited the Sands the day after arriving at our Holiday Park outside Brixham all I can say is that in my view this is one of the most beautiful spots I have ever visited. Apart from the natural beauty there is a certain Air and poignancy about the area. I will finish this review by saying I have fallen completely in love with this Coast and also inland Devon also

Fantastic day on beach, very clean. Ice cream, swim in sea, husband sunburnt & moaning later...a fabulous British day out.
Highly recommended.

This is an interesting and quite unique area with war time links. Sadly again the name is not accurate-its pebbles, not sand. Not for me a beach I would want to sit on!

Behind the sandsthere is a free nature reserve with a small amount of parking. Not too many birds but wonderful spot.

A lovely walk along this seafront, with 2 good cafe's for your Devon cream tea's or lunch or just a cuppa. there's a beach. but only 1 old fashioned shop selling a few gifts that i think they had in the window last time we came over 2yrs ago, not worth a look. One post office. Holiday rentals, & block of luxury appts; to rent. A nice spot to visit.
