“Worth going out off your way for”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

I was very surprised to find that somewhere the size of Tosside (there are probably 10 houses here) can boast 2 cafes. But I would say this was about the best tea shop we have visited this year. They give you tea made from tea leaves (increasingly rare), the fruit scone is a delight - warm, light and served with a piece of strawberry and at a good price. A lovely old fashioned room and delightful staff.

“excellent value friendly cafe”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stopped here for lunch on one of the hottest days of the year while on a cycling trip. Food was excellent. Prices seem considerably lower than many other cafes. Service was very friendly and we were given loads of iced water to help us cool off - and they filled our water bottles too. We sat outside on the terrace under shade. Perfect setting.

“fortunate stop”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

while travelling through the forest of bowland we were looking for somewhere to have a break and refreshment. we had passed through tosside, but turned back, having seen the menu board outside the "old vicarage tearoom"
what a good decision it proved!
the interior was comfortable and welcoming, and outside the views were excellent.
it was busy in the tearoom, and decided on scones with butter, jam and cream.
scones were warm, crispy outside and soft and fruity inside, plus plenty of jam and cream to spread, excellent quality and good value too.
food taken to other diners looked very good as well.
we shall return!

“just what we were looking for”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Out for the day and looking for that elusive, perfect country, cafe/tearoom. invariably we don't succeed or are disappointed. Not so at the 'Vicarage'. Excellent food, friendly, genuine service and a beautiful day at no extra cost, with stunning views. Very good value, would make an ideal place to start and finish your day. Great area for walking, mountain biking, bird watching or just taking it easy and exploring this wonderfully quiet area

“Book Early”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

We were staying on a nearby camp site and called in at The Old Vicarage to book an evening meal. Two of us had three courses and the total bill came to £33.70. We were the only ones in at first and the room smelled of damp. However once the food arrived and party of four sat at another table, the atmosphere changed. The food was well cooked and presented and the service was good. If you are going for an evening meal, then book as they are a cafe during the day and will only openevenings if they know they have customers.
