Petit Paradise is everything the description says and more. The cottage and garden are secluded and very pretty. It is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, fitted out with absolutely everything you need, and in a perfect location. The beach is a 5 minute walk through a track directly in front of the cottage; it's an easy 20 minute drive to Cape Town (and Table Mountain) and under 2 hours south to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. (Take the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive along the coast from Hout Bay to get there - you won't be disappointed, the scenery is jaw dropping). Hout Bay shopping, supermarket and restaurants are just 4 km away so even though Llandudno is 100% residential with no commercial properties at all, everything you need is under 10 minutes away.
We also spend one day in wine country - Stellenboch and Franschhoek and enjoyed the very stylish wineries set in gorgeous rolling hills. We plan to go back and visit this area again, but we would of course include a stay at Petit Paradise - it is a fantastic destination in itself.
The owner Vicki was very easy to deal with, very friendly and helpful, and very welcoming. The cottage is on a lower garden terrace in the grounds of Vicki's large and lovely home but was very private both for them and for us - apart from the lovely warm welcome, we literally didn't see her for the week we were there. Vicki also arranged for Aggie, her housekeeper to check on the house for us each day to clean if we wanted it which was a bonus we hadn't expected. Also generously offered was the use of her pool which is just across from the cottage and down several terraced levels from her house and so is secluded from both properties. We didn't use it as we were enjoying the lovely loungers in the garden of the cottage and out doing our own thing but the pool is really beautiful. Being on the larger property meant security was excellent and while we were careful to ensure we locked up when we left, we were not in the least concerned.
We travel all over the globe regularly and during our trips we always plan a week or so of self catering so we can totally relax without having to go out for meals if we don't want to and work completely to our own schedule. Petit Paradise easily rates as one of the nicest places we have rented, despite spending much more in other cities and countries. The visitors books indicate lots of repeat guests, so if you can get a reservation at Petit Paradis, take it - you will not regret it. It will make any visit to Capetown/Llandudno even better.
