“Lovely Guesthouse”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

We were a family of six who stayed for three nights. We had a lovely time. The rooms were decorated very nicely and the beds comfortable. The breakfasts were gorgous. We relaxed by the pool and played with the owners dog who was a big hit with the children. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. The location was relaxing with beautiful views.

We had a nice stay with our two children (11 and 16). The hosts are very helpfull and the view of the Mountains is fantastic. If you need Peace this is the right place. We have never visited a place where the hospitality was on such a high level.

Relais de L'Alsou is a very nice B & B on the edge of a very tiny village Labastide En Val. Not a shop or restaurant to be seen but that's not really a problem unless you want a bit more action. We enjoyed our stay as 1st night Raymond cooked us a lovely meal & Claudine gave me a lovely hot stone massage before dinner. We were almost at the end of our travels in France so it was a great to have a quiet place to stay. Claudine recommended places of interest to visit inc a local winemaker & a visit to the medieval village of LaGrasse & also suggested a restaurant 30 mins away that was worth the visit & yes it was! A fabulous lunch out in the back garden of the restaurant En Catimini in The Chateau in the town of Ferrals Les Corbieres. It's worthy of the 4.5 stars on tripadvisor & other reviews. A wonderful family run restaurant!
We did a quick visit to Carcassonne's medieval town then that night enjoyed the vista from the outside terrace at Relais deL'Alsou......glass of french wine in hand as the sun went down.
Not too shabby!!!

Our most beautiful reward is to read that our hosts are happy at our bed and breakfast close to carcassonne, and that they say it. I am happy that the massage brought you some relaxation. Thank you and thank you again!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners, Claudine and Raymond, were very welcoming and friendly and we spent a lovely evening with them chatting on the terrace. Our room was very spacious, had a huge wardrobe to store luggage and was very nicely decorated. The air conditioning was very welcome too! As other reviewers have said, this is a new building and the owners have put a huge amount of effort into the landscaping and interior design. They are also keen to use organic products and offer some lovely local organic wines. The views from the terrace are wonderful and the gardens will mature beautifully in time. The village, Labastide en Val, is lovely and quiet the nearby villages are quite picturesque and also worth a visit. It is a good base for trips to bustling Carcassone and good for cycling too.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool/terrace have a great view

This is a newly built B&B located on the edge of the tiny village of Labastide en Val in the Corbiere region of southern France. It is very comfortable and well appointed with high quality fittings and furnishings, and the very friendly hosts Claudine & Raymond made our stay very pleasant indeed. We extended our stay to 3 nights we enjoyed it so much, and touring this region became a highlight of our trip to France, with a fascinating history and some of the most beautiful little villages we have ever encountered.
If you are after a region steeped in history and beauty, then put this one top of your list, and stay with Claudine and Raymond.

We stayed one night in this guesthouse which is located in a very nice part of the Corbière area. These are our highs and lows we experienced during our stay:

Highs:
- Very nice bathroom and features
- Nice dinner together with other guests at the round dinner table. A bit pricey for what it was, but acceptable

Lows:
- The interior design is a bit strange as there are really nice features (see re. bathrooms above), but for example the artwork does not fit at all.
- The garden might look nice in a few years time, but for now it looks rather empty and if it's a bit windy at the (small) swimming pool, there's nothing that saves you from that wind.
- Jacuzzi costs 15 Euro for 20 minutes. Why on earth not slightly raise the room rate and include the jacuzzi in the rate? Would make feel guests pampered and happy instead of feeling disappointed about these extra fees.
- Breakfast o.k. but nothing special and again extra costs for anything that goes beyond a very standard supply.

Overall, I think our stay still deserves an "average" rating as the overall price (95 euro incl. breakfast) is o.k. and you can't compare this guesthouse with 4 or 5 star location where I definitely expect more.

We are very attentive to your remarks; In fact, on our website, we propose special offers including the Jacuzzi, so that our customers have the freedom of their choices. Why on earth didn't you read it on our web site?
You compare our house to an hotel 3 or 4 stars but it seems that our prices are less expansive, and finaly you agree with our prices! Remember, We are a guest house and propose a friendly welcome and a healthy home cooking, We are just the contrary to an hotel which proposes bellboy and butler.
The swimming pool 9x4m is well detailed on our web site, and the landscaped works continue in October. We fitted out the swimming pool spaces, terraces, and parking at first considering the drought of our climate. We remind you that we opened our house on July 1st, 2011 and that the garden is going to be transformed from October. We have decorated our rooms with reproducing paints from Gustave klimt, Paul Cézanne, Modigliani, and most of them are also detailed on our website.

It is a brand new b&b, and this is a lovely home with a wonderful host family.
Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed. The en suite bathroom was outfitted with contemporary fixtures.
The breaksfast was delicious and fresh from the local market. It is really lovely to sit on the terrace, see the beautiful landscape, have a nice dinner and have a chat with the owners.
Relais de l'Alsou is located in a very nice neighborhood far from the tourist traffic, near Carcassone.
