We've just returned from 10nights holiday at the Centara. We had one of the lovely plunge pool room on the beach front. Fantastic view from our bed which was framed in between 2 tree trunks. The weather was a bit hit and miss as it's their winter and the resort is situated on the east of the island, which gets the wind (nice in the summer but not so great in the winter), the resort is pretty new and I have to say it's lovely. The staff are all wonderful and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would particularly like to thank Avinash and Previn our housekeeping guys, splendid job on our room, thank you! Ramesh was marvellous and is becoming world famous on trip advisor! Preety and the other lovely guest relations young lady (I'm so sorry I have forgotten your name). Bernard the assistant F&B manager is so lovely, nothing is too much trouble for him along with the bar manger and all the bar staff. We had our anniversary while we were there and the staff went to so much trouble, in the restaurant and in our room. Centara need to take good care of all of these guys as they are a credit and asset to you! I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel, my advice would be to make sure you were all inclusive as there is very little around the complex and drinks can be expensive both in the bar/restaurant and in the mini bar in the room. We had a lovely time and thanks to everyone at the Centara for making our holiday a very memorable one.

Room Tip: Our room was 1903 if going club or choosing the plunge pool rooms. We had a lovely view!

If anyone here is looking for fancies going to the Maldives and has considered any other resort, DON'T. You won't find any where better. The staff treat you like royalty, the welcoming comity make you feel like a long time- no see family member not as guest at a hotel, all staff are friendly, helpful and awesome! The food is delicious with a wide verity from different countries so there's always something to eat even if your a picky eater like me. The Italian is my favourite .

There's a great view no matter where you are on the island, and you always stop and appreciate the sunset no matter where you are. There many activities on the island such as 1 free banana boAt ride/ tube ride, 5 free excursions and 1/2 hour spa treatments for all inclusive guests. These a kids club and teen zone for children so it's family frendly . The rooms have great decor and are always clean with hardly any insets and Mosquitos as they spray the island. The views from the rooms make you wan to wake when the sun rises and watch the sun set just to glimpse the raw beauty that is the Maldives.
So if your looking for pure paradise, this the place for you.

Room Tip: Rooms near the aqua bar have the best view, rooms at the back are the quietist and beach villas are...

We have just returned from the most fabulous holiday with our immediate family consisting of 3 couples and 5 children aged 15,12,11,9 and 6.

Firstly we have to congratulate the Management and all the staff. From the moment we stepped off the seaplane to be greeted by Valeria in the boat to the landing at the jetty at Reception where we were greeted with cold towels and champagne we thought we had landed in paradise!

The staff make this island so special from the Area Manager Voytek, who was always discreetly visible but always approachable and incidentally welcomes feedback from the guests on their holiday experience to the Executive Chef Martin who oversaw the preparation of all the delicious meals, Valeria, Renee and the Reception staff of many nationalities who were always helpful. Fazu the hostess in the Reef restaurant who made sure our three families were given tables close to each other, to the efficient service of Sherri and Mohamed also in the Reef restaurant. The champagne at breakfast was a welcome addition and at lunchtime there was always plenty of choice from salads, curries, roast meats and fish. They are all to be commended.

We enjoyed a fun dinner at the Teppanyaki Restaurant, deliciously exotic food in the beautiful garden at the Thai Restaurant through to a wonderful wedding anniversary dinner at the Italian restaurant on the water with flowers, celebration cake and delicious food. We had no problem booking a table for 11 in any of the 3 speciality restaurants as a new very efficient system was in place and it was easy to book any of the restaurants on a daily basis at 9.00am in Reception.

The Coral Bar staff (thanks to Danni and his team) were amazing at remembering the children's orders for "mocktails" before lunch and dinner and the older ones enjoyed further "mocktails" in the gorgeous Aqua Bar with luxurious furnishings where Siva and his team entertained us with his "shaking and mixing"! This bar hit the right note for after dinner drinks and we enjoyed the relaxing background music which added to the ambience.

The Cenvaree Spa was heavenly with wonderful treatments from the lovely ladies. We all looked forward to our late afternoon spa treatments and Lakshmi worked her magic on me and managed to get rid of my neck, shoulder and back pains over the 10 days, sending me home feeling rejuvenated and free from tension. The others also enjoyed their various trreatments.

We stayed in No 63 luxury sunset water villa and were looked after by Sideek. He kept our villa spotless and the toiletries were replenished daily as were the fluffy towels. The coffee/tea supplies and minibar were also re-stocked daily even down to the chocolate bars. The villa was very spacious and airy and the ocean view from our sundeck was fantastic to watch the sunsets. We had two small "housekeeping" issues one was a faulty hairdryer which was changed in 10 minutes and the other a faulty door key card which was changed immediately. So please approach either Reception or Housekeeping if you have a problem and they will deal with it quickly.

The main pool was used by the more energetic members of our family for early morning pre-breakfast swims which they all enjoyed and it was also good to come for a swim mid morning before lunch. There were plenty of available sunbeds and parasols.

The whole family enjoyed the complimentary excursions and activities which were also easy to book. We didn't manage to swim with a whale shark as it wasn't the season, but a small one was spotted on our trip although too far away. On the boat trips we had great snorkelling opportunities and saw sharks, turtles, dolphins, eagle rays and thousands of colourful tropical fish. The house reef was easily accessible and even the 6 year old managed to snorkel practically all the way round the island where we all saw truly wonderful marine life.

We cannot compliment Centara Grand Resort Maldives enough, as this holiday truly exceeded our expectations from the punctuality of the seaplane transfers to the ultra all inclusive 10 days we spent there. We truly had VIP TREATMENT!

The Management pay great attention to detail and are always visible and approachable. They always ask for feedback so they can improve on the guest overall experience and on this occasion we have absolutely no negatives to report. This was the most relaxing happy holiday with my family ever. Well done all staff at Centara Grand Resort this truly was the ultimate all inclusive holiday and we hope we will meet you all again.

Last year I went to Centara Ras Fushi which is brand new in 2013 so this time I would like to try the new experiences of Thai hospitality so we chose the Centara Grand. I'm very impress with the resort lay out. All villas are very nice design and spacious. All inclusive is very good idea when you stay in the island. I stay at the Deluxe Water Villa which over the water with Island Club which is more luxury for food and beverage and also separate swimming pool, afternoon tea, special breakfast, complimentary laundry.
All guests can enjoy a lot of complimentary activities such as, sunset cruise, fishing trip, local island visit, whale shark trip, complimentary banana boat ride, etc...
So many restaurant i.e. Thai, Italian, international buffet which they offer different theme everyday, tepanyaki, and also 2 bars. Kids Club also good for children.
Spa is good and the resort offer half an hour for every day for each guest free.
I enjoy my holidays a lot and plan to go back again in April 2015.

Room Tip: Villa Water Deluxe is the best view for sunrise or sunset and especially for snorkeling.

Just back from Centara and had the most amazing time. Met so many lovely friendly people and the kids even have a Korean pen pal now.

It is hard to find fault with this place and having read numerous reviews on Trip Advisor prior to holidaying here regarding décor and not been a five star resort, I wasn’t sure what to expect. When you get here, none of that is important actually as you are in paradise.

What makes Centara is the staff who are friendly and approachable. The management team are visible and you soon get to know staff on first name terms. I must commend the housekeeping department, our room boy was super and our water villa always felt clean and tidy. Attention to detail such as folding the baby’s pyjamas, closing our blinds on a night and putting a glass and bottle of water by our bed was lovely. It only rained on one day and a member of staff rushed over to me and my pram with his umbrella to offer me shelter.

The food was fabulous and varied. The Reef much exceeded our expectations and the chefs were very accommodating. We rarely needed to get the kids food from the kids menu and they tried so many new things. My personal highlight was the carved meats served with Yorkshire pudding as it was a welcome change from the delicious curries that I couldn’t resist. Goulash and pastas were great and great selection for breakfast including fresh omelettes, bacon, pancakes and waffles on rotation.

The food at the Thai restaurant was fabulous and the serving staff very attentive.

Ultimate all inclusive was great value.

Kids club
Taking our children to Centara was a great decision – we had a baby, a 4 year old and a 7 year old and they had the best time. The kids club was fantastic – we hadn’t planned for our kids to go so often but they didn’t want to leave. It is in a safe, clean, air conditioned environment. The kids played tennis and baked cookies in the restaurant kitchen with the little chef’s hats and menus they made. They also did a pirate’s treasure hunt. Even the baby went to kids club with his siblings most days for an hour or two and I paid the babysitting charge as it was too hot for him to be out in the sun.

The kids also really enjoyed the night entertainment in the bar e.g. crab racing

The family water villa was perfect for us. We loved the sliding window behind out headboard that allowed us to check the kids in their bunks. The bed was huge and comfy. The outdoor shower was so liberating. The villa and access to all the villas was secured with railings so even our baby could crawl around our decking safely (chasing a hermit crab usually!).

Access to the reef was easy from your accommodation but we found getting in at deeper water nearer the dive centre better. The scuba diving tuition and experience is well worth the additional money. Seeing the Whale shark was amazing.

Room for improvement:

-Would be good if the restaurant opened at 6.30pm as children fell asleep on their chairs in the restaurant at 7.30pm sometimes
-Two courses in the Italian is a little stingy (you could only choose pasta or pizza and dessert or appetiser and main (meat/fish dish))
-The food is defo more Asian oriented but then there are more visitors from Asian countries – not sure about chicken or beef porridge but they did do plain some days.
-No choice of alcoholic beverages in mini bar e.g. small wine, just lager
-Boat trips are average
-Staff at water sports centre aren’t as friendly as rest of resort – might be a language issue but we found it difficult to ascertain opening times and when we could rent equipment
-Furniture and decking in villa a little run down but believe they are planning to refresh this and didn’t have big impact on our holiday

Overall the island is clean and calm and I would recommend it to anyone as families and honeymooners mixed well.

Room Tip: Water villas perfect for families as safe, secure and on a quieter part of the island

The island is undergoing renervation and all the public venues have been upgraded. The villas were a little 'tired' but perfectly acceptable and these are next on the upgrade list but we expect the price will go up once it is all finished.
The service and food were exceptional and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. There is an evening of cocktails when you can meet the management and have your say on your experience. The snorkelling was wonderful, especially off the back of the dive centre and was guaranteed to swim with white tipped reef sharks and all the usual tropical fish.
The package value was unbelievable being the ultimate all-inclusive package which really was all-inclusive. Food, beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks were all in the price along with 3 trips and a daily half-hour session at the spa.
There is a choice of 3 restaurants as well as the general restaurant and all were very good. We had a beach villa which had it's own decking area and beach front with sun beds and a few yards down to the beautiful lagoon. An exceptionally relaxing holiday.
