“Up there with the Very Best of them”

I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment last night with three friends.
I can honestly say the attention to detail and quality of the food is just out standing with an amazingly inventive menu that is not too big and offers some great choices and properly locally sourced ingredients.
I can not find adjectives worthy to describe the food but I will try,to me eating here was an experience the food arrives and each course is a piece of Art the quality is just stunning and in between your courses you are treated to little extras like the most amazing pumpkin velouté which was out of this world.
I opted for the quail to start and followed up with the venison which was just wow!!!!
The chef is extremely talented and sends out food with the finest attention to detail
The only critic is the wine list could do with being more comprehensive and maybe some suggests from the waiters/waitresses on pairing up with the food.
The serving staff were warm courteous and very well presented,it's a young team but they are bright and enthusiastic.
Please just go and enjoy a very special eating experience

My partner and I stayed over in the Cabaret suite which was wonderfully presented, quirky designs for each room and the bed was brilliantly soft and comfortable! Staff were very obliging, so very friendly and chatty. We only had breakfast the next morning (only because we ate at their sister restaurant The Fleece down the road - again marvellous staff!) which had a great range of delicious choice! Highly recommended and we're already planning our next visit! Cracking job!

Our visit was a mixed experience. The menu is limited with only 4 choices of main course and no set menu. The starters were about £8 as were the desserts (cheese with a small glass of port was £12). Main courses were £16, £20 or £24. When wine is taken into account an individual bill could very easily exceed £50 or well over £100 per couple when tips are taken into account. This is a lot for a village pub!
The menu is a little pretentious but the food itself was excellent and superbly presented. The main problem for all of us (we were four) was that there was not enough of it and on the way home we actually seriously debated stopping for fish and chips for we were still hungry. Vegetables were almost non-existant and there was nothing in the portions to bulk them out. Even the dessert was skimpy although the cheese board was superb. Nevertheless, £12 for 6 small portions of cheese plus a small glass of port is pushing it! Lastly, my wine was very good and it was commendable that it was sold per glass, small carafe or by bottle.
The service was pleasant and well meaning but clumsy. I sympathised with the waitress who normally works at another pub in the village but she should have had at least some knowledge of the menu (how about spending 10 minutes with the chef before opening?). The lad who cleared our table towards the end of the meal hovered like a praying mantis picking up every plate and glass pretty well immediately after we had finished with them which was both disconcerting and irritating. I do not doubt that it was a question of inexperience as he was very pleasant but perhaps more training would help?
The premises were lovely, the food was good and the restaurant is an asset to Addingham. I hope that it will be a success but I feel that the concept may require a bit of tweakin

Just popped for a' pub meal' on Friday with the family to the newly refurbished Craven Heifer . What a great surprise to find tastful decor with subtle lighting and a buzzing atmosphere. The service was prompt but relaxed with really pleasant staff making you all feel welcome. We then ploughed our way through each sumptuous course, lots of complimentary little dishes, and great wine . The standard was similar to some top restaurants we have eaten in where we have paid three times the price. Excellent value and they deserve to do very well. Loved it and cant believe its just down the road! Will go again asap.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked amazing. 2 in roof had free standing baths in middle of room!

We had a family meal their last night, I can only say that it was the best eating experience for a long time in a beautifully restored pub. The food was top class, the service was excellent, the ambience was just right. The prices were very comparable to some of the so called "top class eateries", in this area.
Tom Rennolds has produced a menue that he should be well and truly proud of, the flavours, presentation were top notch and cooked to perfection.
We were shown the rooms, all have a different theme and done to a very high standard.
We will definitely be returning, we wish everyone involved all the best for the future, i am sure it will be bright one

After total revamp this venue has just opened again under new management.

As locals we were delighted and impressed with our first evening there this weekend!

There was an exciting atmosphere and unique quirkyness about the place with some fabulous design ideas but yet they have also retained some traditional character to give it a lovely pub feel. The restaurant has yet to open and the accommodation is still to be completed but the bar is finished and it looks fantastic!

The manager and bar staff are professional yet friendly so there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Am sure they will retain the fantastic start they have made once they open fully in a few weeks time. Good look to all you guys!

This pub is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The chinese restaurant has gone and a new landlord will be in place. Looks promising for the future. Exterior looking very smart as work progresses.I reside in the area.
