“Relaxing”

The Blue Pool and Tea House
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We visited The Blue Pool on a hot day. Entry was £5.50 per adult but we had a buy one get one free voucher from an attractions guide. There are two routes you can take - the red one is higher up and accessible to wheelchair users. The green one is longer and takes you closer to the pool/lake. The pool was an old clay pit that had been dug by hand. It was then abandoned and rainwater filled it in. It has a beautiful green/turquoise colour. This is a very relaxing place to take a walk and admire the views. There is a tea house and also a small exhibition of teddy bears called the Wareham Bears. The gift shop seemed like good value and we bought a few items there.

What a gem this place is. Such a gorgeous place to take a leisurely stroll around and enjoy the views and nature.
After our walk we visited the tea rooms and Wareham Bear exhibit and a look around the museum to find out the history of the place.
Unfortunately one of the scones had the biggest hair in it, but was replaced and refunded immediately.
We picked up a pamphlet while we were there which has discount vouchers for entry to the park, which we will probably use when we go back in September

I last visited the Blue Pool 45 years ago. I recall my brother in law complaining about the price of afternoon tea, and little has changed, it remained good but expensive. That said this site is well worth a visit, it really is very beautiful and peaceful. They now have a gift shop, sell a few plants and have a teddy bear exhibition, which was most charming. there is a small museum, which perhaps could do with expanding, or giving more detail. A most pleasant afternoon.

We took our entire filt which included our energetic kids. The feeling was that it was a calm and serene place and kids should be seen but not heard. The tea shop looks to be struggling as you had to pay before you could go to the tea shop. The access is very limited and not well advertised as was the exit. The exit took us out on to a main dual carriageway and was not for the faint hearted. I feel with a rethink and a little common sense this place could become quite a profitable attraction. Unless that is what the current owners want to struggle with repairs and maintainance. A hidden gem in Dorset!!
