I often go to Charlie Macs for drinks and the music but have not had the pleasure of eating here until today. My friend gave me a voucher for christmas and raved about the food so today was the day. There was no vegetarian option so I asked for one and the waitress went off to ask the chef who offered to make me a pasta dish but I declined as I end up with pasta in most restaurants and I wanted something different. I customized my meal from different parts of the menu like garlic potatoes with chips, salad and coleslaw. My partner ordered Coq au vin. The chef came to me and explained he had taken the vegetarian option off as noone had ordered it all week and then I walked in! He told me he would make me something special....and he did. I got the meal id ordered with the most fantastic cherry tomato and cucumber risotto. It was just divine. He could have just left me with my little order but he didnt and im very impressed. The young waitress was very pleasant and helpful as was the waiter and I will most certainly be back.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you very much for your very kind review. I am really happy that you enjoyed Fred's vegetarian option and as much pleasure as you got from the risotto he got from your feedback. He is always delighted to accommodate any dietary requirements, and even loves to deviate from the menu. We hope to see you again very soon at Charlie Macs.

Kind regards
Linda Mounir

I'm not the kind to walk out of a restaurant or bar once I enter but if I had the courage I probably would have done so in this instance. The outdated decor, stained seats and dirty ceiling were enough to put me off.
However, in the end I was glad I took a seat. The kind bar man offered me the menu and pointed to the specials on the board . I ordered the Lamb burger with chilli fries and a pint of the black stuff.
I finished my drink, from the not so clean pint glass, before the food arrived. The baseman notified me that there was a problem with the fryer and that this why my food was taking so long.
It was worth the wait though. The lamb was succulent and the bap was fresh, a good combination for any burger.
The fries were scattered with nice chilli flakes and a hint of melted cheese, a perfect companion for the fresh salad on the side.
All this for less than €16 is well worth it and I will be back.

First time in Ireland I have eaten in a lot of places in different cities such as Cork, Kilkenny and Dublin. But, never felt the real Irish pub feeling like in Charlie Mac's. The staff is cordial, experienced, social and let's say; very fun!
I had the fresh cod and prawn burger which was amazing and filling.
I recommend this pub to all tourists who pass by Fermoy, but even if you are in Cork or the cities nearby I would tell you its worth a visit!

Cheers !!!

Xxx

This is probably the busiest and most popular Pub in Fermoy. The drinks served are of a very good quality the pint of Guinness is creamy and most enjoyable. There is a good selection of food to choose from and the helpings are quiet good. All in all this is a busy and popular outlet and caters for all tastes and clients. We would definitely call again when around the area.
