This is a very functional hotel for a one-night stay. Room was basic but spacious & shower was the best in our holidays in Ireland. Breakfast was good but quality of food not so good (salmon was really greasy). The view from the hotel room really beautiful. Both managers were very helpful & welcoming. Only negative: the barmaid not at all service-oriented - we went elsewhere for our drinks.

Room Tip: Even although the front rooms are looking onto the road it's not noisy at night and so worth it...

Just returned from our first visit to Leenane Hotel. We stayed three nights- the hotel was very busy- and we really enjoyed our stay. Food was excellent- the dinner menu offered a good choice and was very well presented. Friendly staff and lots of happy customers....many on return visits. Well done to all at the Leenane Hotel- hope to return next year.

Best view I can remember from a hotel room. Misplaced my smartphone at local restaurant. Hotel staff retrieved it. Comfortable quiet room. TV no bigger than a standard computer monitor but not important to me or spouse.

Just home from a wonderful stay at hotel leenane, a 200yr old coachhouse that has now been renovated in part and yet still has the charms of bygone yrs, the dining rooms are nicely decorated and the library/sitting room is lovely with huge comfy settees to sink into after a long day of sightseeing and chairs by the windows to relax in and read a book from their bookcases on either side of a huge log fire which crackles away in the evening time, there is an impressive wooden staircase that leads to the bedroom (2 floors) our family room was on the 2nd floor and in the more modern side of the hotel the room size was big and a fine sized bathroom, ok there are a few little picky things I could go on about but I wont because this I think is what gives this hotel its charm, our view was amazing ,beds were very comfy, a small balcony to stand out on and view the wonderfully impressive fjord, the staff make this hotel what it is , agnes on reception took our booking and guaranteed us a room with a view so thank you agnes, the ladies and gent in the dining room serve with professionalism, we had a beautiful 5 course meal, we could not fault it, the homemade bread is delicious, the breakfast is very good with a very cheery woman that has time to greet everybody. the seaweed baths are right next door I didn't go but we were given discount vouchers if we wished to go. there are nice gardens across the road to sit and enjoy a drink or two, it was very quiet at night and we had an undisturbed sleep. I will definetly be booking hotel leenane again and would recommend it to couples or families as all would be welcomed.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view of the fjord, if your a family room 41 was a good size and had a lovely v...

Stayed here for 1 night and had dinner in the restaurant. We had stayed here some years previously. Our room was in the 'newish' block and didn't have the old world feel of the main hotel. The room initially smelled a little of old socks - maybe that's why the windows were wide open!
The restaurant was busy and somewhat understaffed. The food was good but nothing too special.

Three nights DBB at the start of July in The Leenane Hotel, superbly located at the East end of Killary Harbour, was extraordinarily good value. Everything about this hotel is pleasant, though many of the much advertised antiques might better be described as vintage. The large sitting-room to the right of the reception area is an absolute gem. A big log fire was blazing even on a murky July afternoon and the generously proportioned couches cried out for occupiers. On either side of the fireplace two large reproduction breakfront bookcases were stocked with well thumbed and often esoteric volumes.
Our bedroom was rather small and, unfortunately, the security light in the car park shone straight through our window. Our bathroom was definitely "dated" - nothing wrong with that - though the collapsing loo seat and bath taps which delivered cold water from the one marked "H" and vice versa were rather eccentric. Another moan: the charming young ladies who "do" the bedrooms in the mornings seem to need some guidance and supervision; teenagers and spotless bedrooms tend not to go together!
The jewels in the crown of this hotel are the kitchen and dining room. The chef is a marvel, producing a variety of menu and a culinary standard which - particularly at the price charged - is quite exceptional. The dining room staff - male and female - are bubbly and helpful. Now these are the qualities which will bring us back to The Leenane Hotel.
