“Incredible. This is a must see ruin!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

Off the beaten track, but definitely worth a visit. Parking is limited and the ‘Beware of the Bull’ sign is a bit off-putting. But the ruins are absolutely amazing. Take wellie boots as you have to trek across the farmer's fields though. Extremely well preserved. If you are in Mayo, don’t miss this old Abbey.

“Fabulous ruins!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

To get to this ruins you need to find a wide spot on the road to park and walk through a farmers field. There is a "Beware of Bull" sign where you enter but he just looked at us as we passed him by - no big deal. All of this is worth it when you see the ruins up close and walk all over it - just beautiful. We love visiting old Abbeys and this is one of the best - especially the Cloisters. There were sign posts off the main road and just follow the signs to find it. There had been a lot of rain so the field was somewhat muddy and watch out for those Cow Pies! Well worth the effort!.

“Mound Abbey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

This was the most intact abbey I have seen in Ireland and I have seen a lot. About the only thing missing is the roof. Park car right near farm gate but do not block. Now this is a farm so wear the right shoes and watch for the cow pies. About10 minute walk to abbey. Right on the river. It was a sunny day and got great pictures. Close the farm gates behind you!

“Where?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

There is no parking, of access to this. But ignore the "Beware of Bull" sign and carefully walk in. Be nice to the farmer. It's worth the bother.
