Absolutely fabulous!!! We went on a monday and got there quite late but homemade bread, salmon & a bottle of wine waiting for us. Liz is so welcoming and cudnt do enough for us. The place is so peaceful and serene but with lots of outdoorsy fun for the kids. (1,5 &6) So much to do and to see around killala and ballina. Loved the simplistic nature of the cottage with a cozy fire every night.. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you liz
This place is fantastic made by the owner Liz, from the moment I booked this great value 3 night break on a miserable January day Liz could not do enough, we stayed with 7 family members varying in ages from 11 to 86 and everyone loved it, there was smoked salmon and wine and brown bread which was such a lovely surprise. There was a fire lightning and plenty turf and briquettes which was appreciated, plus a bbq with coals provided. We availed of the on-site yoga which was very enjoyable. While there is very little in killala, (there is a good shop, couple of pubs, lovely open area and playground) it’s a great base to explore the area. Thanks Liz.
The Old Deanery Cottage is a beautiful and peaceful trip away. These cottages are in a fantastic location with stunning surroundings. Clean and tidy throughout and everything you need is at hand. Only minutes’ walk from the quay and the local fishing harbour. The village of Killala is small but picturesque with local bars, restaurants and shops. Approximately 15 minutes drive away is the town of Ballina. You will find plenty of tourist attractions and things to do for all the family, catering to a wide range of tastes.
The owner Liz was very friendly and welcoming on arrival. She explained all the necessary details and was always on the other end of the phone if required. Very helpful and accommodating throughout our four-night stay. These cottages are ideal for romantic breaks or family getaways alike.
Thank you, Liz, once again.

A fantastic short break had in a wonderfully quiet and tranquil setting. Made all the more special thanks to the owner, Liz, who was a font of useful information and a pleasure to meet, as well as keeping us well supplied with copious amounts of turf.
In-fact, the value for money, the cottages, the whole area was so enticing that we came back a week later for another 5 days.
This gem is not to be missed out on. Plenty surf spots around the local area for those that way inclined.
Thanks for the fantastic hospitality Liz. We will be back
Lovely setting and as others have mentioned, the host Liz is lovely and had enty of recommendations and a fire lit for us as well as wine, bread and smoked salmon. We were in a cottage facing the bay - lovely views - great to sit and watch the curlews when the tide is out. You have a round tower just behind you and the cottages are very convenient for Killala village. Great location for exploring Noth Mayo. The wi-fi was not strong enough to use but that didn't bother my wife and I although my teenage daughter was a bit annoyed. The smoke alarm in our cottage was a bit sensitive (especially as one is right in the kitchen). This is great for your safety but a bit annoying when you are just making toast or cooking a sausage (even with window ans doors open and fan on ot went off). Tv was missing a remote and a bit hit and miss but there are bettsr things to do on holiday than watch tv.
Would defitely recommend the cottages especially for families. You could easily fit two adults and four kids in our cottage - very roomy.
I stayed here with family for two nights. Greeted by Liz who was extremely friendly and helpful in our planning for the weekend, she was an excellent host. The cottage was spacious and in a beautiful location overlooking the bay. The fire was lit before we arrived so it was lovely and cosy on our arrival. A bottle of wine, some fresh brown bread and salmon was left for us also which was a beautiful touch. The only downfall was that one of the beds were broken so it was very difficult to sleep on. Other than this one small inconvenience, I would highly recommend The Old Deanery to all!
Arrived on Saturday to a great reception from Liz, a lovely hostess. House was so cosy and well equipped. Views are to die for and a great place for letting the kids have freedom. Very laid back and relaxed holiday. Will definitely return.
