The Rusty Oven Wood Fired Pizzeria
Ranked #2 of 20 Restaurants in Dunfanaghy
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $4 - $12
Cuisines: Pizza
Description: Authentic Handmade Wood-Fired Pizzeria in the secret garden behind Patsy Dan's bar. About us: Why Sourdough - The long leavening process and use of only organic stoneground flour, water and a bit of salt in production makes it digestible, nutritious and tasty. Join the sourdough revolution. Big up to Ben Mackinnon of E5Bakehouse in Hackney who started us on this path to sourdough enlightenment in exchange for wind, waves, power cuts and whisky in a wintery Donegal. Why Dunfanaghy - We like to get outside and there is no better place than Co. Donegal! We have created somewhere we want to work and hang out. Big thanks to everyone in Patsy Dan's Bar, especially the Devine family, for all their help and continued support. Who - An eclectic crew of artists, horse riders and surfers are putting in the required hours to bring hand-mixed sourdough to your table. Enjoy We are a seasonal business so please check our Facebook page for current opening times!

This appears to now be known as The Rusty Oven and it's behind Patsy Dan's pub in the main street. We sat out in the beer garden (weather was fab so we didn't bother with the indoors option) and the ambience was just wonderful. You really feel like you're on holiday here! 20 euros for two pizzas loaded with toppings...the best I've had since I visited Rome a couple of years ago! We were able to purchase a bottle of wine from the pub to have with our pizzas, though next time, I'm having the Guinness! Our five year old had already eaten in our campervan, but he was quite happy to sit and people watch. This place is superb, and the pizzas divine (and a bargain!!!).

You need to know where this place is as you won't find it by accident - you'll find it tucked behind Patsy Dan's pub in the Main Street. Picnic tables, parasols, fairy lights - you get the idea. Lovely friendly staff and superb pizza, in a very nice atmosphere. You can have your pizza in the garden and order your drink from the pub, or have your pizza served inside the pub - best of both worlds! It's only open in the summer months, Wed - Mon 5-10pm. Highly recommended!

Truly great pizza, Italian style with a variety of great toppings on a thin, real, pizza base. The service is excellent and the ambience superb and one of the real benefits lies in the fact that if it is sunny there is 'outside' dining or you can eat and have the pizza served in the pub, Patsy Dan's. All in all a great, reasonably priced, culinary delight. A real bonus to Dunfanaghy!
