“Informative and interesting”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

The workhouse exhibition was very well structured and flowed well, providing the visitor with a real sense of appreciation of one individual's story from the era. This made the experience more personable. The scale model was also useful in order to grasp the layout of the workhouse when it was operational. The audio was really excellent. The staff at the workhouse could not have been more helpful, and it was nice to be able to enjoy tea and cake after. We went on a rainy day, it was a perfect activity.

“Best play park in area with good cafe/shop”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

It has a great children's playground with a cafe, shop and museum. The cafe has plenty of space and a brilliant child friendly area with toys, books and blackboards. Always worth a visit

“Sad Story of a Harsh Time”
Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

The workhouse facility was less than I had expected, but my disappointment in workhouse structure was quickly changed by the audio presentation provided. The existence of workhouses in Ireland, resulting from the famine of the 1840's is a tragic story that needs to be told and remembered by all. At this facility a part of this story is told through the life of a young girl who survived both life in the workhouse and the famine itself. It is a compelling story and it is done well. This is worth a visit.

“Small scale museum well done”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

I enjoyed this museum however it was not suitable for younger children as they would find it hard to concentrate. The audio tour around was interesting however this tour, even though the exhibition is small, takes some time so don't underestimate it. The tour was very informative and was priced well for 2 or so people but a large family could not afford it. There was lots to do at the centre along with a well priced café and shop. There was also a good play area for children of all ages. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
