Owner description: Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland's highest at 121m (398ft). It is set in North County Wicklow just outside Enniskerry Village. The magnificent Waterfall cascades down over the granite rocks from the peatlands above. The crystal clear water flows down to the river below where it continues on its journey out to sea at Bray. The valley itself was carved out by a glacier during the ice age! Today Powerscourt is a haven for some of Ireland's wildlife, flora and fauna. The Sikka deer were first introduced here by Lord Powerscourt in 1858. The Waterfall is best seen just after heavy rain and the sheer volume of water and noise is certainly a sight to behold. The Waterfall is an ideal location for summer picnics and barbecues. There is a vast amount of space to keep children entertained. There is also a playground for younger children. Don't fret if you forget your picnic as there is a kiosk on site that serves everything from coffee and tea to hot-dogs and ice-cream. The kiosk is open everyday from the 1st June to the end of August and year round at weekends, if weather permits. There is ample car parking and toilet facilities at the waterfall. Dogs are welcome but they must be on a leash. Take time to explore the pathways that meander through the flora and fauna, walk along the woodland pathways and listen to the birdsong.

This waterfall is a must see if you are in the area. It is tall and there is a good amount of water that flows from it. You can get close to it to take some great pictures. There is a snack shop at the first parking lot that sells coffee and hot chocolate. There is another parking lot that is closer to the waterfall if you keep driving. Enjoy!

Make sure you take a picnic with you. Its a great place for walks and waterfall is amazing. Kids will love the run around. Most families are there with picnics and portable barbeques. Make sure to bring some food because there is no place near to buy anything.

Hello from Powerscourt and thank you for your lovely review. It is a great place to have a family picnic or bbq and the vast open spaces are terrific for the kiddies to have a run around. The short walks are a nice addition after lunch too!

In my opinion it is ridiculous that people take advantage of natural beauty spots to make profit. I mean, the waterfall was there, nobody has built it, it is just nature. Don't charge for it!!! Governments should protect the place of being destructed by men, but this does not mean charging for people to getting there. It is not about the price, it is about paying for something that everyone should have the right to see for free.

That being said, the Powerscourt Waterfall is truly beautiful, and I loved to be there. But it is not a super-fantastic-amazing waterfall. If you are used to see fantastic waterfalls in other places, maybe it is not worth to rent a car, going there, plus paying a 10 euros pp fee just to get close to it.

Good afternoon from Powerscourt and thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us. I can appreciate your comments regarding the charge to use the facilities and see the Waterfall but we are a privately owned estate and do not receive any funding to help maintain the parklands and facilities, we therefore need to charge a fee. The charge per adult is €5.50 and we recently introduced the family ticket for €16.00! The Waterfall is the highest in Ireland and it is a great place to spend the day with family and friends especially if the weather is good, a picnic is a must:)
