This was an absolutely beautiful place to stay with an attentive staff. A luxurious experience and you feel like you are living the lifestyle of the rich and famous. If you are a golfer there is much to do for hours as this is a beautiful golf course as well. Otherwise, you can walk the grounds, ride a bike, or take a rowboat onto the lake. The main restaurant was a formal experience and the food was absolutely wonderful. The eventual price for two was over 200 Euro which was a romantic splurge on our part. Once here, you really don't want to leave for dinner or an activity, especially if only staying one night, so plan to splurge on dinner in the main dining room or dine down the hill at their golf club for casual dining.

I highly recommend staying at this resort. It is spectacular. The property is beautiful and the staff is kind and helpful. The castle is in close proximity to Shannon Airport so it is easy to get in and out of during your stay. The walled in garden is enchanting. I took a falconry lesson with Dave the last morning of our stay and it was one of the highlights of my trip. One last great tip for those who are gluten and diary free...they have on hand delicious GF & DF bread - more than one type (rolls and sliced bread.) What an unexpected treat!!!!

I stayed here for one night, perhaps I should have reserved a 4 star hotel as I found this hotel overly formal! I like good unobrusive service! A very nice hotel but the rooms are not castle like! Very well run but just not for me

I can't imagine what happened to some travelers who encountered rude staff, etc. Couldn't have been further from our experience. Every single person couldn't have been nicer, more welcoming, etc. Would have to wonder if it's bad luck, difficult customer, bad day for a staff member. Who knows? We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite. The grounds are remarkable. It is very expensive so I can't necessarily give it a good score for Value in the strictest sense; but for our experience, we got what we paid for, which was a great stay.

What a wonderful three nights we spent at Dromoland.
Everyone, from the reception to the housekeepers to the bell staff was kind, helpful and down to earth. We had an excellent value with the buy two nights, get one free offer and felt it was a great deal. Lovely room, breakfast was fantastic, and grounds are beautiful. We felt all employees went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and welcome.
Thank you, Dromoland stafff, for an lovely beginning to our Ireland vacation!
(One suggestion - eat in the cocktail lounge rather than the golf course if not splurging on the meal in the dining room. Similar price and cocktail lounge is much nicer, more elegant and food and service are better.)

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel - our suite was divine, I felt like a princess the whole time I was here. The dining rooms were beautiful and the food equisite, everytime. The grounds are a jewel - hire a golf cart and go exploring - we had a riot roaming around the vast area doing this. The spa was a real blissful experience and I did not want to leave. The staff were wonderful, the lady on the reception was fantastic and very helpful in what to do and where to go.
Yes, one of the best places to stay in the area and one we will certainly be back to stay with.

overrated, rooms look tired needs refurbishment, some staff need additional training in being more friendly. not worth the rates charged if it was not a castle I would rate it an average 4*. the plus is the location the estate setting the fishing and the golf course.
