Certificate of Excellence

I have stayed here twice once with my partner and then again as a celebration for my graduation. We booked 4 rooms for family, we got an excellent deal as well. We also requested rooms at the back of the hotel, with the excellent view and this was met. Overall it is a great hotel for a chilled out stay, rooms are to a good standard. Breakfast is excellent, dinner is too a high standard. Hotel has good amenities and the pool etc are an added bonus for the price you pay. Buncrana itself is beautiful piece of Ireland and a short car journey from Derry City of Culture. We have a great visit everytime here will be back. Beach house restaurant is a must if you stay in Buncrana also.

Room Tip: Request a room at the back of the hotel as view is something else.

Overall we really enjoyed our one night stay at Inishowen Gateway. The room was large with a good sized bathroom with shower over the bath. The room was clean though some of the decoration and fittings like the above mirror light in the bathroom tired/old. The info held in the Hotel Folder in the room was out of date, including the menu, but when asked we were told the chef would cater for our needs. The meals and breakfast were very good and the view out over the golf course was stunning. Our view was not so good out of our window, we had the wall and guttering of the Spa Facility.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view when booking it is stunning

Our second stay here and third with the group (we stopped at the Lake of Shadows on our first visit). The staff are very frienldy and helpful and the service we got at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Rooms are clean and comfortable and value is great. We stopped on a breakfast and dinner package the food was very well cooked and beautifully presented. And to top it all great views over Lough Swilly. We'll be back as soon as we can.

I stayed at this hotel with my family in July for two nights. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were kind and helpful and Buncrana town was breath taking! The hotel is close to the town and the beach which was a nice scene! The only downside to this hotel was the service in the restaurant! We waited a full hour to be served our food and they forgot one member of our familys dinner and another members food was cold. However, the staff were very busy in the restaurant that evening! The hotel has two restaurants, one upstairs and the bar restaurant so you have a lot of selection at the same time! :)

Firstly, we just love this hotel and have been enjoying it 2/3 times a year and will absolutely continue to do so!!
It is consistently good value, good service, good food, good rooms and location, and an EXCELLENT spa experience! Just brilliant!
There were a few things that had "dropped" on our most recent visit, mainly in the restaurant unfortunately. We were a party of 4 , seated on 2 mismatched, different height tables, and we had to ask to be moved twice. we felt like a real hassle! Also my "banana tart tartine" was actually a few chopped bananas thrown on a giant vol-au-vant. Very odd!! Rest of food including steak was gorgeous though!!
At breakfast, they were obviously just rushed, but there were no bowls for cereal for about 20 mins, and when bowls arrived there was then no milk to put ON cereal! There was then no bacon/sausage, again a long wait and queue, then when finally got food, there was no bread to toast... Yet another wait!! People had to ask each time for the food to be restocked. Maybe sounds fussy but just so different to our usual experience.
We ll be back definitely but hoping to have a "smoother" experience!
Thankyou!

Hotel was very easy to find, the deal was very good value (@ 99euro for Breakfast and dinner). The area was fantastic, with beautiful views of the bay. The area is very safe and quiet, the dinner was very nice and the staff very friendly. Staff training could be improved a bit - specially for breakfast although the entire hotel seemed to come to breakfast at 9.55am! Was a bit mad trying to get to get breakfast. Over all a beautiful hotel with a lovely pool, will be back again.

Room Tip: Get a sea view room - otherwise you are just looking a the main road!
