Guests at the “Cow House” can explore the enthusiasm from June for beauty and attention to detail: In the garden and in the house.
The historical house radiates warmth and security, even though the architecture is modern. Lots of light is in the house, an interesting lighting, glass bathrooms, an extraordinary staircase, self-made furniture, high quality equipment in the kitchen and always interesting views into the courtyard, garden and the Wicklow Mountains.
And then the enchanting garden ... we were there in August ... certainly one of the best months to visit, when you love plants. Lilies and dahlias shine in the morning sun, grasses swaying in the breeze. A little walk in the morning or evening sun - as in paradise ...
The location is ideal. Both for a city break to Dublin if you do not want to stay right in town as well as for visiting the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Locations of Braveheart are just around the corner and Glendalough, the home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. And the most famous Garden of Ireland, Powerscourt, with its spectacular waterfall, lies beyond the mountains on the way to the coast.
We can recommend the Cow House and June Blakes Garden anyone who appreciates these qualities.
P.S .: Also evening strolls on the cow and sheep pastures to the garden of Jimi Blake at the top of the hill with an overwhelming view over the Wicklow Mountains are worthwhile.

After having several attempts to book the property we persisted despite the lack of interest from the owners...also had to request on two occasions to get our deposit returned had we not who knows!!
On arrival no real welcome or even an intro just shown the building from across the courtyard. Insisted on having an intro to the facilities was shown around by two very young though charming children of the owners representive who stood by the front doorway totally uninterested... during my six days there although the owner was in residence there was made no attempt to introduce herself.
The building indeed interesting but a bit of design over function and a bit heartless... TV there but no channels only wanted to watch Rugby but hi ho no result.... went to local pub...
Overall in my opinion a very disappointing stay but could have been better if a bit of Irish charm been shown...

We stayed 3 wonderful days and nights in 'The Cow House' in June Blakes' stunning garden. The award winning conversion combines a contemporary interior inside an old stone shed. The inside is both warm and comfortable and to wander the garden is a treat.
We will be back.

Thanks so much to June - our warm host who welcomed us most kindly to her gorgeous gem in the Wicklow hills. We had everything you could ask for and what an experience - this cow house has been very lovingly restored in to a modern chic building. We especially loved the underfloor heating and would go back again in a heart beat!
Our Host, June, couldn't have been more generous, warm and helpful, re places to go, things to do. (a must is her brother Jimmi's garden, just down the road)
This amazing apartment has been built inside the old stone walls of a cowshed. The design is stark, almost austere, modern, but the perception of "stark" was soon dispelled by the warmth of the underfloor heating and our delight at the thoughtful, innovative design and comfortable fittings and furniture.
It is set in the garden June has created and though dismissive of her efforts she is obviously a serious plants woman and inspired designer. June was happy to show and talk to us about her garden, keen gardeners from altogether different climbs!
Things to watch:
Polished cement work tops are porous and stain +++
The shower, with no screen, is a little chilly and messy, requiring towels to dry the loo and floor, but these quickly dried with the excellent venting and heating, and we loved the audacity of the design.
Thanks, June and we hope the bench top was easily fixable!
