The Manor house at Tulfarris is a great wedding venue. The setting is fantastic, the views across Blessington lake are wonderful and the Manor house is beautiful. The food is great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it for a wedding venue.

We spent two nights at the Tulfarris. The hotel exterior is starting to look a little sad...a new coat of paint and maybe a bit more foot traffic would make it a bit cosier. I heard from a local who frequents the bar, that NAMA has taken over...this could be the reason for it looking a little on the tired side. HOWEVER, the customer service was excellent and our room was VERY nice and CLEAN which is a biggie for me. Despite all the light bulbs being no more than maybe 20 watt (and this made it hard to read!), the room was very contemporary and nicely decorated.

We were on a deal so all meals were eaten in the dining room. The food was good, portions were big and I can't complain. Very prompt and friendly staff too. The hotel is quite secluded, and was very quiet during our stay. There is no pool, but there is a golf course. I can't comment on that as we did not play golf. All in all it was a nice stay, but a little too quiet for us.

We got a REALLY good deal so we can't really complain too much.

Good afternoon Sumo68,

Thank you for writing the review on the hotel. I'm glad that everything went really went for you. To come back on your comment on the external of the building, we did a lot of work on our balconies this year as the snow of the last two years had damaged the wood of the balconies. Thankfully they are perfect now and in 2012 we plan to work on the remainder of the facade. As you say we are in receivership but it really is not a problem for us and we are continuing to improve our service and standards despite this.
I will have a look at the light bulbs also as they are more energy saving than light saving so they should be of the same brightness of a normal bulb.

Thank you again for your review and hopefully we will see you again at Tulfarris. Keep checking our website as we do have a lot of great deals coming up soon.

Kind Regards
Mark

Stayed here on a short trip to Ireland. Whilst I couldn't fault the hotel, there were a couple of things that I thought they could do better. The music is the bar was a loud 'dance' style which didn't fit into the rest of the hotel and the music whilst having Dinner kept going on and off. It is not something I would normally notice, but once you heard it stop once, you kept noticing the long periods when it was stopped. Only a small thing....
Food was amazing - had Pork Belly which is one of the best I had and the portions were spot on - not too much and not too little to leave you hungry. Service was excellent and all the staff we met were very helpfull and attentive.
Short drive from Dublin to catch flight
Great value for a quick overnight and will hopefully be back

Good Afternoon Travelling_footy_fan

Thank you for your review and taking the time to write it. It does really help our business with people posting such good reviews.
Our music system is a fully integrated mood system so I must see which genre it was set to as dance music is not the theme we would be going for.

Hopefully we will see you again over in Ireland and at Tulfarris.

Kind Regards
Mark

The location was truly beautiful. I have recomended this hotel to my parents as it is the most beautiful place in the east of Ireland. The room was almost perfect. Our 'standard' room had......2 Flat screen tvs!, A fridge with ice compartment, a micro wave. A balcony off the sitting room, no hassle from the house keeeping. Newspapers left outside room each morning. Very clean! I recommend a walk down the golf course paths, down by the lake. Breathtaking!
I have too agree with previous comments about the bed and also the breakfast: The bed in the room was way too hard. (I normally like hard mattresses). Hugely takes from the comfort and luxury of an otherwise perfect room. Management should invest in soft mattress toppers, to sort this out though. We too, also found that the breakfast was cold, on Both mornings. Management should sort this out immediately as its easily corrected! The food was in covered metal containers that can have heat applied, with the flick of a switch. Even though the food is only in these containers for a relatively short time, when barely warm food is then placed on the cold plates the entire glorious breakfast sadly becomes cold. Also the view from the breakfast room could be one of the best views in Ireland, though it suffers badly from very very dirty windows.(also easily remedied). Lastly one vegetarian option on the menu is very poor for such an amazing hotel. All things considered. We loved this hotel

Room Tip: Besides the bed, this was the best room i've ever stayed in!!

Good Afternoon Mr Holliday,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to write such a great review, albeit a couple of issues you seemed to enjoy yourself. We do appreciate this.
To come back to you on a couple of your points: we really havent had any comments on the mattresses but we are looking into a cushioned mattress quilt top just to enhance the comfort.
I have spoken to the breakfast restaurant manager and chef and we will be keeping a tight eye on the temperatures in the serving dishes. These are unfortunatley not electrically controlled but more on heated lamps under neath but this should not be a problem and will be corrected.
I agree that the windows did need a clean but have since been done. Unfortunately we waited till some good weather in November to get them done.

I dont think these have deterred you from staying with us in the future and again thank you for letting me know as it really only is with these contructive comments that we can improve.

Kind Regards
Mark

Great location for going for walks or visiting Glendalough etc.
We were upgraded to a suite which was much appreciated as we were travelling with a young baby.
The food in the restaurant in the evening was excellent as was the breakfast.
The hotel is well set up to cater for families and kids.
I wasn't playing golf but it looks like a nice course. There is a lovely walk to the lake through the course.
Overall a great experience.

Fast check in, but looking around reception area seemed a bit grubby, lick of paint needed here and there. Our room was in main hotel on ground floor with handicapped access( which we didn't need) so toilet was very high! Room itself was spotless, and bathroom spotless too. Manor House reports from friends were that it is beautiful, although I didn't see it myself.

Good Afternoon EGH11,

Thank you for the review which all in all was very good albeit the grubby reception. I agreed with you and have since had the lobby repainted and the carpet behind reception desk changed.

Unfortunately getting a good time to do this is often difficult and we do tend to put things off for a more opportune time. Thankfully your comments gave me the push to clear the schedule and get it done and I thank you for that.

Hopefully we will see you again soon,

Kind Regards
Mark
